Friday April 29th kicked off Texas Frightmare Weekend and this year’s line up of guest and events was bigger than ever. Out for blood, I mean, to sign autographs were the stars of the SAW series (Cary Elwes, Shawnee Smith, Costas Mandylor), Clive Barker, Roger Corman, Robert Englund, Malcolm McDowell, Tom Six, Dieter Laser, Sid Haig and many, many others.
Following the Sid Haig and SAW round tables, the Red Carpet allowing Press to get some great photos of these legendary horror icons as well as chat it up just a bit. Here are some up close and personal shots with the stars of many beloved horror films/franchises.
From The Human Centipede, actor Dieter Laser and Tom Six getting a bit too cozy…
Always a treat, screen veteran and icon Sid Haig always makes TFW that much more special
All you Phantasm fans should recognize Angus Schimm…if not, then that deadly little orb should do the trick
Audition star Eihi Shiina and J-Horror master director Yoshihiro Nishimura showing us their “scary faces”
Mr. Eggy Weggs himself, Malcolm McDowell was on hand looking cool as ever. When asked why he wasn’t at the wedding of Kate and William he breezily and comically said, “I guess my invitation got lost in the mail“
The cast of Chromeskull: Laid to Rest 2 showing their scary faces…although most of them just look like they’re sick
While covered in gore in the SAW series, Elwes, Smith and Mandylor sure clean up well…
Norman Reedus looks lost without his better fraternal half…
…there that’s better. But “what’s with the 3rd Musketeer” you ask?…Well, like Flanery always says, “What’s a Boondock without a Rock??“
Surprisingly sophisticated looking, Robert Englund looks like he just stepped out of a GQ shoot…
…but always one to laugh at himself, he takes a stab (get it?) at interviewing Texas media favorite Devin Pike from Red Carpet Crash.com
Immediately following the walk of fame, all the stars got to their tables to greet fans and sign autographs. Texas Frightmare Weekend (or TFW) was sponsored in part by Anchor Bay who (aside from Lionsgate) is the only studio making consistently solid modern horror films these days.
And as they were the main draw of TFW (for yours truly at least), here’s two shots with the stars of The Boondock Saints Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus. If you’re a fan check out our follow up “Closing Night Recap” post which features their hilarious (read: HILARIOUS) Q&A session with the Saints!
The long first night wrapped up with a SAW party prior to the screening of SAW 3D and that was topped off with Skaraoke (rad: scary karaoke) hosted by Devin Pike of Red Carpet Crash which was just tons of fun. Too bad the hotel shut it down at 12…but that didn’t keep our night from stopping:P
