“The CineMagic 8-Ball” – In Theaters 4/20/12

When so many movies are released each weekend and trailers often seem better than the movie itself, what should one do? In this precarious situation, we consult the The CineMagic 8-Ball (TM) to help us see through the nebulous marketing haze. Doing so just might save us all a disheartening trip to the cinema and spare us unnecessarily springing for $7 popcorn. See what the 8-Ball says about this week’s releases…

DARLING COMPANION

The story of a woman who loves her dog more than her husband. And then her husband loses the dog. Hollywood legend Lawrence Kasdan has had a hand in some of the most famous and memorable films of all time. Capable of handling an epic known to give lots of soul to characters, this small scale story looks like such an odd departure. Here’s hoping it has more substance than the trailer.

CHIMPANZEE

A 3-year-old chimpanzee is separated from his troop and is then adopted by a fully-grown male. A sweet looking film from Disneynature this heartwarming tale seems like fun for the whole family…as cliche as that expression is.

THINK LIKE A MAN

Four friends conspire to turn the tables on their women when they discover the ladies have been using Steve Harvey’s relationship advice against them. Lesson of the day: If Kevin Hart is in your movie then that’s a sure sign that it’ll be funny. But we wonder how the rest of this rom-com will hold up with so many lead characters. Eh, looks good so far.
