Let’s keep this short and sweet since it’s the end of the day: I might not love all of Bobcat Goldthwait’s films (I found God Bless America to be pretty repugnant despite being really, really well-crafted), but he’s an incredibly magnetic and interesting character and an exciting filmmaker. So it stands to reason that I’m pretty much guaranteed to see Willow Creek, his next picture, which happens to be premiering at this year’s Independent Film Festival of Boston. There’s really no way I can say no to kismet of that variety.
But wait- there’s more. Willow Creek shows Goldthwait stepping outside his wheelhouse of dark, uncomfortable, comedy blended with social commentary- at least, that’s what I’m assuming, because it’s a Bigfoot movie. A found footage Bigfoot movie. Can you imagine what a found footage Bigfoot film from the man who made Shakes the Clown, Sleeping Dogs Lie, and World’s Greatest Dad might look like? I can’t really create an image in my head, either, so obviously I have to see it.
Plus, it’s just gotten its first poster, which is pretty incredible. Credit goes to the talented Alex Pardee, and that’s no joke- this is some outstanding work, and if there’s any justice in this world, Goldthwait should be able to sell his film to audiences just with this image alone. Don’t believe me? Scroll down and behold- and, if you’re in the area, drop in for IFFBoston April 24-30, and check out the film!
