Even great actors get their feathers ruffled…

Hello World, Marc Here: It’s long been said that Hugh Jackman is the nicest and classiest man in show business right now.  And when you think of how well he did with the recent Oscars, he is easily a cut above other talented actors like Russell Crowe and Christian Bale who have a reputation for their tempers. Well it seems that really no one person is immune to the rampant stupidity that abounds in this world.  In the video below you’ll see Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig acting in a play when they are interrupted by a phone as it goes off in the first row.  This proves to be…

    G-S-T Top 10 – Buddy Flicks

First off, let me preface this by saying that trying to compile a great buddy flick list is going to be hard enough.  There are so many movies that fit this description it’s almost it’s own genre.  To widdle it down to 10 was near impossible so at the bottom I have some very deserving entries in the “Honorable Mention” Category.  Next, and probably more importantly, let me tell you all that this list is devoted to my favorite movies out there that have impressive, memorable and hysterical “buddy” plot lines.  As you will see in the entries below, some films are formulaic “buddy flicks” but others are indeed not…

    Sweet Trailer…'Solomon Kane'

Well it’s a rainy Monday here in Dallas, so it seemed the right time to post the first trailer for James Purefoy‘s latest: Solomon Kane. A 16th century Puritan, Solomon Kane is a somber-looking man who wanders the world with no apparent goal other than to vanquish evil in all its forms. His adventures, published mostly in the pulp magazine Weird Tales, often take him from Europe to the jungles of Africa and back. Honestly, I was expecting a little more and a little less…but let me explain.  When I say “a little more” I was expecting something with some more feeling, not the sort of ‘wooden’ acting that’s abundant…

G-S-T Quick 5 – Cheezy (But Still Fun) Films

Last night I watched Encino Man and it just reminded me of some other films that I really enjoy but were similarly (especially looking back now) cheezy.  To be fair, they aren’t “god awful messes” but they still suffer from things like bad acting, and poor script writing, etc, and the quintessential synthesizer music that dominated the 80’s.  The films listed below (in no particular order mind you) are ones that I find to be pure brainless, low budget, and ultimately overlooked entertainment…kind of like 5 episodes of Friends seen back to back to back.  At the very least they deserve a second viewing (or first depending on the person).…

    Sweet Trailer…'Boondock Saints II'

The day has finally come to get our first look at the highly anticipated sequel to one of the most revered cult classics, The Boondock Saints.  I have posted the trailer below so please, sit back and enjoy… [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmDhSNssaOI] Now I love the first Boondock Saints and it is one of the more played movies in my library.  Despite my feelings about the original, I have to say that this looks a little cheap, possibly (like the case of Crystal Skull)  too little, too late.  And oh, how the might have fallen.  The entire gang (sans Willem Dafoe) is back for this sequel but the years have not been kind…

Growing Up Watching Films and the Lasting Impressions They Leave

Last night, I was watching Animal House, which I sadly admit, for the first time in a while.  As I laughed at the same jokes and recited the same lines which I have for years, it really got me thinking about this and other films I was pretty much raised on.  As a child I would watch this movie with my dad and when it was physical humor that I pretty much understood it made me laugh.  Other times, I remember looking at my dad and trying to figure out why he laughed at different lines, that obviously contained humor which I, at the time, couldn’t comprehend.  While watching this…
