    FourScore Match-Up #1: “A Rock and a Hard Place”

Hello World, Marc Here: Well, here we are with our very first FourScore! As I find film scores sometimes more thrilling and memorable than the film itself, I wanted to call attention to some of my favorites, then weigh them all out to find which is the superior effort. I’ve also included my favorite tracks for you to check out and finally decided the winner, because, “There can be only one”. But please, don’t just take my word for it; feel free to chime in and let me know which one you think is the best. So without further ado, I present Go,See,Talk’s inaugural FourScore…

    Sweet Trailer…'Rango'

I know this came out on Tuesday but reworking G-S-T had me pretty occupied the past few days. Anyway, I think I’ve caught up on the things I’ve missed and this looks much more appealing than that teaser from a few weeks ago. It will certainly keep me laughing til the weekend! If you haven’t seen it, take a look… From our friends at First Showing we get the following information on this amazing and gorgeous looking film: Rango is being directed by filmmaker Gore Verbinski, of The Mexican, The Ring, The Weather Man, and all three Pirates of the Caribbean movies. The script was written by John Logan (Gladiator, The Last Samurai, The Aviator, Sweeney Todd) based on a story…

Hold on Hollywood…There’s No Fool-Proof “Remake Formula”

In light of the recent success of the remake of The Karate Kid, I thought I would take this time to give it credit for beating the remake odds. Those are the odds that say a film won’t succeed when the predecessor was so amazingly original and thought to be untouchable. Well, (as I have come to learn) times change and sometimes they don’t age well. Certain films do, in fact, need an update or a refreshing to keep a valid story alive. I admit I was one of the fuming masses crying out “Why?” when it was announced but since then have let some hatred subside. After seeing it I also have to say that…

The List’s “Films You Didn’t Know You Needed to See”

In an awesome series of posts entitled “Films You Didn’t Know You Needed to See” Kai of The List, asks guest bloggers to call out the best films that no one knows about. Go,See,Talk has been invited to contribute to this sereis and we happily accepted. I highly suggest you head on over to The List and Readers are treated to some obsure films that really are too good to be so unknown. But while you’re here, below are three films that really flipped my lid when I first saw them, and I too, like many of you (I suspect) had never heard of them. Well, take a quick minute to read my thoughts and…

    G-S-T Quick 5 – Favorite Costumed Performances

One of the most interesting things about a movie is when an actor dresses up in make-up or a costume and (when done well) there is a transformation to this character that is compelling and riveting.  Below is a list I’ve compiled for 5 (not the greatest ever mind you but) very, very fine performances. These gifted actors just shine right through all the make up and flat-out impress the hell out me. I believe these actors deserve as much credit and praise as possible for their work in, what I believe to be, truly impressive and noteworthy turns…

    G-S-T Top 10 – Favorite EPIC Films (Part I)

I’ll say right off that this list probably won’t contain many of the films that you’d expect to see when I put EPIC in the title. When I come up with a Quick 5 or a Top 10, I usually try to choose films that are either off the beaten path or ones that just don’t get enough attention. Hey, it’s what I do. So before we start, let’s just take a look at this blurb which helps define and identify the makings of an epic. I think this is important as most people (mainly the ones I know) think an epic is simply a “sword and sandal” film. As written below,…

G-S-T Quick 5 – Great Filmmakers Who Began in Horror

I’m no film historian but I have noticed something consistent in the films I’ve seen. While there’s no surefire formula for success in Hollywood, it’s a good bet that if you want to make it big, you have to start in horror. Now many people may not enjoy horror films but there are a number of uberly talented people working with buckets of blood, fake limbs and scary power tools. In many cases, those productions could just be their ticket to the big leagues. One day, I’d bet, we might just see one of those unknown, unsuspecting directors walking across the stage at Oscar night for something they’ll do later on…
