The 2010 Dallas International Film Festival starts TODAY!!

Calling all you Texas area movie lovers!! Have I got something for you. Dallas’ 5th annual International Film Festival starts today and will run from the 8th to the 18th. I am happy to be volunteering to help out in the festivities (and as a perk volunteers get free movie passes). Screenings will take place at Studio Movie Grill, The Angelika Film Center, Landmark’s Magnolia Theater and the Dallas Museum of Art Horchow Auditorium. Those of you film fans who are quasi-local, it’s a great opportunity to see some high-profile, up-and-coming films. Also you’ll be able to meet with fellow cinephiles and have an awesome time. Though not as large…

    Sweet Trailer…'Splice'

The trailer for Vincenzo Natali’s Splice dropped at the end of last week and man, is this a pretty creepy sci-horror flick!! We first heard of this film in the Fall of last year but haven’t seen much since then…although lucky attendees to Sundance got to see it and have nothing but rave reviews. This trailer looks pretty slick and I like the confined nature that it looks like they’re going for. Or maybe that’s just because of the lab they’re in:P While some will automatically claim this looks surprisingly like a rip-off of Species given the plot synopsis, this looks quite a bit better (although there is no Natasha Henstridge…pity). Anyway, after…

    G-S-T Top 10 – Favorite High School/College Films

Let me just say that you’re not going to find any classic John Hughes movies here. I tried to stay away from that simply because John Hughes movies should have their own category. Also the American Pie films will not be found either as I think they really are too exaggerated and therefore stupid so they don’t meet the same level of comic (and also raunchy) genius these films attain. That may be both biased and hypocritical when you take a look at the Top 10 below. That said, here are the films we love to watch whenever we start to miss College or think about how rough of a…

What do “you” think of Go,See,Talk??

Being a member of the LAMB, we’ve found ourselves in the company of some truly talented and fun people who, like us, really love movies. The LAMB (the awesome networking/movie blog collective) provides so many great hobby bloggers a place to call home and we’re thrilled they let us join:) Once in a while, the LAMB gives their members a chance to see how they’re doing through a series called Brutally Blunt Blog Blustering. It’s basically their open forum to allow members to find out how others view their blog. We at G-S-T just celebrated our first anniversary in February and think we’ve come a long way. However to stay relevant, sometimes things…

Sweet Trailer…'The A-Team' Second Full Trailer

Following on the heels of The Expendables trailer comes another bad-ass looking actioner, replete with blockbuster-esqe explosions for your viewing entertainment! Not being a big fan of the TV show, I can’t claim to be for or against this adaptation, but the first trailer looked pretty good. After all, you can’t lose with Liam Neeson in your movie, now can you? I have to say that this one looks like another bang-up trailer, but I’ll let you decide. Does this look more interesting to anyone?? In case you’re just joining us and need a cliffs notes brief of what this is all about, here is a little blurb courtesy of…

    G-S-T Quick 5 – Movies I've Warmed Up To…

OK, here I am, humbly walking on the ground where I, like broken glass, laid out all the bad things I said about these movies. In the past I might have either not been in the right mindset for these films or maybe not been able to comprehend what they were trying to do. While not all of these are masterpieces (some fans would argue that one of them is) the films on this list now get my approval. I now feel much more of a connection with these films and honestly enjoy quite a bit whereas before I would say flat-out “I hated it”. Ah, the folly of youth… ——————————————————————————————————————————————— Boiler…

5 (Hypothetical) Ways Studios Could Offset High Ticket Prices for Movie Goers…

Sure seems like going to the movies these days almost requires one to take out a loan. While everyone, I figure, is now aware of the increase in 3D ticket prices we can safely say that all across the board, movie tickets and going to the theater just doesn’t cost what it used to. Further, what’s the drive to see something in cinemas when it’ll be out on-demand or to own in less than 90 days? So that got me thinking. Just how much money would be “too much money” to the average movie goer? And what could be done to keep people going to the theater instead of waiting for it…

Ohhh, look…20th Century Fox: 75th Anniversary Editions

I was looking at IMDb this morning and I found something pretty cool. In honor of 20th Century Fox’s 75th Anniversary, they are releasing some very special editions of their more popular movies. Unfortunately it looks like they’re just bundling 2 or 3 movies that are quasi similar and selling them as 75th Anniversary Editions. However here’s where the “cool” part comes in. Go to the site, and enter for a chance to win their grand prize of $75,000 with a little scratch off game. If you don’t win, you can again tomorrow and the next day and so on until the contest is over. Second, and to me the coolest part…

Random Film Thought of the Day…03.29.10

This is an interesting way to start off the work week. It was just about 1 month ago when the 82nd Academy Awards came to a close and we began our Monday blogging and gossiping about what went on the night before. One of the best parts of the evening, although it was a surprise to no one, was Christoph Waltz talking the Oscar for Best Supporting Role. One of the very few awards that the QT masterpiece (yes, masterpiece) received all night. Anyway as luck would have it, I was on the way to work this morning and I took a different way to get here. Sometimes traffic can be a blessing.…
