    Ohhh, look….THE EXPENDABLES Poster Art

The biggest movie on my radar is Sly Stallone’s The Expendables…I’ve written a post nearly every time there’s news, and every time I get more anxious to see this film.  And what a way to end the week…with what’s being called official poster art for the movie!!  There are times when there are  no words to describe how cool something like this is.  This is one of them…so no words, just enjoy!! Again and still, I am soooo stoked to see this film.  Happy Friday Everyone!!!

Frank Sinatra…The Man, The Music and now, The Movie

There was amazing news today that there will be a biopic about the life of  the one, the only, Frank Sinatra!!  Wow…this makes me more excited than the news about any other movie this year, that’s for sure. The following information on this project comes from the post on First Showing: After years of negotiations with Frank Sinatra Enterprises, Universal will finally be moving forward on the biopic Sinatra. The screenplay was written by Field of Dreams screenwriter Phil Alden Robinson, and as announced today, the prolific Martin Scorsese will direct. The film is already being compared to Todd Haynes’ 2007 Bob Dylan biopic I’m Not There., at least in…

Who (Or What) Contributes The Most To A Film??

This is a topic I have been thinking about for the past few years.  As a fan of (mostly) American cinema, I have seen, what I consider, poor acting, good acting, and great acting.  One example for each of those categories would be Mark Wahlberg, Daniel Craig, and Russell Crowe. Now, I realize my examples above are actors for one genre, being ‘action films’, but it should give you what I think are “poster boys” spanning the range of actors in cinema now-a-days.  Usually, in film today, it’s tough to get an original story out of Hollywood, a character that requires an actor to “stretch” to pull off the role,…

    New Family Guy Movie?

Got your attention?…Well, I’m interested too and a recent post from First Showing has the following: Series creator Seth MacFarlane talked with Wired earlier this week at a special event celebrating the 100th episode of American Dad, and it sounds like things are actually coming together on a Family Guy movie. “We want to do it,” MacFarlane told them. “Fox wants it. We know what we want to do with it. It’s just a question of finding the time.” His busy schedule includes new episodes of Family Guy, American Dad, and their newest spin-off show, The Cleveland Show. As he explains, “there’s so much to do for a weekly animated…

Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings – June 9th

OK, sorry to get anyone’s hopes up but this latest Indiana Jones adventure will not be coming to a theater near you, Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings will be a video game for the Wii, PS2 and PSP.  But don’t lose hope, I think this should make everyone very happy.  Even though this isn’t totally movie related, the fact that it’s a game based on a movie (the character anyway), and since we all love Indy, I had to post it.  I’ve said before that Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was terrible and just “too little, too late”, so even though this isn’t a big screen attempt to…

    G-S-T Review…X-Men Origins: Wolverine

May 1 is officially in the Springtime but this movie was supposed to be jump-start on the great Summer movies of 2009.  Well fortunately for the timing of this year, this film (despite any success in the coming weeks) fits in a category I call a ‘Spring Fling’ (a film you watch on a whim and is easily forgotten) rather than being a ‘Summer Blockbuster’ (you know, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Transformers, etc.).  I’ll simply say that I was disappointed with this film.  It just never grabbed my full attention like the other X-Men films did.  I even started to doze off but I’ll get into more detail below.…

    Oscar thoughts from abroad

Rob here chiming in with his thoughts (finally)! It’s a very interesting situation for me, the Oscars are big news in Japan because of Departures, and The House of Cubes, each winning their respective categories.  But the truth is, while Marc just hasn’t seen most of the movies nominated in their various categories, I can’t see most of the movies because they simply aren’t out here. Anyways, thanks to the wonders of Youtube, I was able to catch up on some of the key elements of the show, and have to admit, I thought Hugh did a great job as host. The singing and dancing in the opening was a…

    Footage from Stallone's "The Expendables"

With the internet and the world (at least I think) clamoring for more news of Stallone’s The Expendables, this video shows a behind the scenes look at Stallone on set.  The video isn’t much but its always cool to see how things are behind the camera and see how it progressed to what we see on the big screen. Here is the latest video of the man himself and the catchphrase that’s already beginning to make the rounds on the net…Enjoy!! [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IjaRV9DCYc] Annnd for those of you who can’t get enough of Stallone (like all of us here) here’s a few more videos of Sly prepping for the film in…

Actors I'm Excited To See More From…

If there’s one thing I don’t appreciate in Hollywood, it is the over-use of an actor.  Now don’t get me wrong, I love seeing my favorite actor(s) in as many movies as possible and I enjoy seeing them on screen, testing their range and trying new things but I hate it when they are suddenly everywhere at once.   They, very quickly, become so popular that they’re in pretty much everything, then they disappear for a while and come back in bit parts in so many movies spread throughout out the year…take Terrence Howard for instance.  I’d like to see him on more films as the lead role, not a supporting…

    Sweet Trailer…’Hurt Locker’

Kind of a ho-hum day at the end of a long week.  I saw this trailer for The Hurt Locker and thought I’d pass it on although I haven’t heard much about its development.  Unfortunately, this trailer doesn’t highlight some of the heavy acting talent on board…namely Guy Pearce and Ralph Fiennes.  This movie reminds me of The Kingdom and Stop-Loss (which for an MTV Movie, was actually really good). I don’t have any other opinions except it looks cool and I’d like to see it… [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVohGnZ5E0E] But like I always say, the Trailer Industry is a crafty little demon.  Let’s wait and see on this one.  Anyone out there…
