William Sadler is not just a fantastic character actor, he is a main stay in the Stephen King cinematic universe, he’s able to pull you in to the story, he can even take the zaniest and craziest villains and by putting his own special sauce on it, you’ll find that they stick with you like chewing gum. His acting chops have taken him from the stage, to Broadway, to movie sets great and small, and his earnest portrayal casts a tangible and believable light of humanity on all his layered and nuanced performances…even in VFW which says a lot.
An entertainer at heart, and someone who is best described as glue that holds the cast or ensemble together, few actors have gone to such great distances (and heights) in the world of cinema.
Who else can claim to have been an inmate at Shawshank, re-written what it means to be a Bond-esqe villain (in Die Hard 2), play a highly convincing and affecting husband at the end of his road, an evil scientist working with monkeys, take a trip or two aboard the USS Defiant, and steal every scene as the Grim Reaper?? Well, that’s just a small section of his résumé.
One silver screen locale he can now stamp on his impressive cinematic passport is the Alaskan territory in the new film, The Yeti. So enjoy this casual conversationalist and old soul who enjoys nothing more than sitting by the fire and talking shop about movies, music and his grandchildren.
