Ohhh, look…Classic Movie Posters Re-imagined

A few weeks ago, /Film ran a post featuring the inspired artwork of very talented young artist Brandon Schaefer. While /Film showcased the more popular film posters, I went back to look at Brandon’s site. Well lucky I did, as I found more than a few surprises.

However, the one I was most excited to see was The Rocketeer. Since it is one of my favorite movies (and I’m not alone am I Ruth?) I just had to post it. I’ve also attached some of the ones I really enjoyed. Damn this guy is just uber talented. It’s tough to find that delicate balance between minimalist and boring. But he found it for sure.

So if you haven’t checked these out, please do. If you like these, check out his portfolio on Flickr and maybe you too will find some surprises…

Damn, those are sooo sweet looking. Well…all except for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles one, but I threw that one on here because Nostalgia told me to. What’s that Nostalgia??…No, I will not make out with you. Geeze Nostalgia…there’s edgy and there’s offensive. Good Day Sir!

Is it me, or does the “Rocketeer” poster look a little, um … phallic?

Sorry. I had to go there.

Well that’s the subliminal (and minimalist) way of saying that Cliff Secord is “strong like bull”…see, I went there too:)

Would she do that herself…or would she send out her minions to carry out said medieval acts??

While my desire to own some of those posters isn’t as extreme as hers, I’m pretty sure I’d at least jaywalk for The Rocketeer poster:P

I really like The Empire Strikes Back. Very simplistic.

That’s actually one of the best in my opinion…it kinda looks like it was made in the 80’s. Also, I love the Ghostbusters one and although it may look boring, The Rocketeer is my fav.

Squeeee… yes, yes I love the Rocketeer… and that poster totally rocked! Oh Meredith, it didn’t even cross my mind about the phallic thing, but now that you mention it… 🙂 The TMNT one is pretty cool, too, though I have zero interest in the movie.

TMNT (while not the best of the batch) looks the most like something I’d have as a book cover (or a folder) when I was in grade school.
