    Sweet Trailer…’The Hangover’ Round 2

Since the first ‘teaser’ for The Hangover came out, all my friends have done nothing but talk about how bad they want to see this film.  I’m going to agree with them, since our last post I still think the teaser is hilarious every time I watch it. So to make the eager fans even happier, the full length “trailer” has debuted and for your enjoyment you can see it here at First Showing, or below with slightly lesser video quality.  Enjoy!! Transformers 2: Starting Line-Up

OK so I’m a day late getting to this…I was traveling in Sedona for work, but I read about it when I got my room service breakfast and USA Today newspaper.  I wish I had my laptop so I could have written about it, but let’s face it – the work I was doing in Arizona was a paying gig, this site (as much as I love it) is not, so you can see where my priorities are:)   I figure a vast majority of you out there are in the know, but if you’ve been out of the loop in the last 24 hours, here’s USA Today’s feature and the…

Random Film Thought of the Day…03.27.09

A few days ago, I read about Michael Jordan watching his son play basketball in some championship game or something, but I don’t remember the specifics (shows you how much we care about things outside the film world doesn’t it?) Anyway his son plays for a Chicago High School called Whitney Young.  That got me thinking, “where had I heard that name before?”.  Well I was on my way to work and then it hit me.  There was a movie with Jeff Daniels and Jena Malone  called Cheaters.  It was an HBO film (written/directed by John Stockwell: “Cougar” in Top Gun) about an inner-city Chicago high school who cheats on…

    Batman: Evolution

Well, despite any assumptions created by my tag line above, sadly I have no news of a ‘new’ Batman film to share with you…sorry to disappoint.  I do however have this nice little montage I found over at Geekologie, which is a sister page inside one of our favorite sites, I Watch Stuff. Have a look and enjoy… It’s amazing how many incarnations can be created from such a simple shape.  Anyone have a favorite Bat-logo?

Kevin Costner's latest: 'The Company Men'

Good news everyone, Kevin Costner is going to be in the 2010 release of The Company Men, a John Wells films about ‘corporate downsizing’ which looks to be independently produced.  Tommy Lee Jones and Ben Affleck will also star.  Affleck’s character (looking to play the same role as Changing Lanes if you ask me) looses his job and get work in construction from his brother-in-law Kevin Costner.  Tommy Lee will play a senior partner in Affleck’s firm. I’ve said it before, but I’ve always been a sucker for Kevin Costner films (him and Michael Keaton).  The man has a lot of talent and I think he gets better with every movie. …

Random film thought of the day…03.19.09

Hello World, How many people out there know Robert Rodriguez?  How many people have seen his films?  OK, how many people own Once Upon a Time in Mexico? If you have it, I suggest you watch the special feature entitled “10 Minute Film School”.  Its really worth your time.  In 10 minutes he explains how he was able to do more things digitally, in a short period of time, (and right from his own home) than could be done using other common methods.  He uses the phrase “work at the speed of thought” and shows you right there examples of what he’s talking about.  If that’s not cool, then I…

    G-S-T Review…TAKEN

Last night, my fiance and 2 newlywed friends of ours went to see Liam Neeson’s newest film at the Studio Movie Grill.  For those of you who don’t live in Texas, its a movie theater that serves food and drinks right while you watch the movie.  If you’re in Texas, I highly suggest going to one (Dallas and Houston only so far, sorry).  If you’re outside of Texas, I’m sure there’s something similar.  It’s a great way to experience a movie. Taken has been out for a while and we were probably one of the last people to see it before it is “taken” out of the theaters, but I…

    Coming Soon…Spring 2009

With the first day of Spring just around the corner we at G-C-T have some films that we’re pretty anxious to see.  I know I am hesitant about some of the ones due for release (namely Wolverine) but on the whole I feel optimistic about this season.  I’ll also go as far to say I’ve got a good feeling about the rest of this year as well…but more on that later. Even though the economy is in the crapper, and bad news is all that reports can talk about, keep the faith friends.  There are some ‘Cinematic Vacations’ coming to a theater near you to take our minds off all…

What's With All the "So-So" Video Game Adaptations??

We’ve all played fantastic, fun and legendary video games in the past.  These are the types of games you still see made into t-shirts and still talk about them to your friends when you’re drunk…well I do anyway. Certain games stick with you forever because of the quality of the game, the replay value and the hours you spent trying to beat it.  To me, Mario Brothers 3, Wing Commander 3, Max Payne, Doom, Resident Evil 2 all fit the bill for the above mentioned criteria.  Then years later, you hear rumblings and go…”What? They’re what??…a movie version of the classic game I grew up with???…Could you repeat that, I…

    Fantastic 4 Reboot…Anyone care??

I’ve written before about remakes and reboots.  And since Reboot seems to be the vernacular coming off every studio exec’s tongue these days, everything under the sun is getting a re-do.  Fantastic 4 is next in the firing line.  Now I understand if something doesn’t work out the first time, if you have the means, then give it another go, but come on, F4??… I think I can see where the studio got the idea for this in 4 letters…H-U-L-K.  The first Hulk…HULK…missed the mark, I think, because Ang Lee tried an off-kilter approach towards the film.  Going for more emotional/tortured soul plot rather than “HULK SMASH”, the audience got…
