OK kiddos, here’s the question of the day: What do either pictures above have to do with each other?…If you said a “Neverending Elevator Ride (or Music)”, you’re close. Allow me to elaborate on the answer though.
I rode an elevator this morning and of all the music in the world (aside from the standard in elevator music the dreaded Girl From Ipanema) I heard the theme from The NeverEnding Story. Yes, that’s right, The NeverEnding Story. And no it wasn’t the version from the movie, or this version from A Newfound Glory (which is pretty awesome btw). No it was a legitimately redone version of the song in the stylings of, I don’t know, John Tesh perhaps.
Now who in their right mind thought long and hard and said, “yes, I think the theme from The Neverending Story should be elevator music“?? I have to say I was simply puzzled the whole ride. Although probably not as puzzled as the woman who walked into the elevator and found me whispering WTF? while looking wide eyed at the ceiling above. That was a little more awkard.
So if there’s a point to all this, I guess I’d just have to ask: What’s the most random and off the wall song you’ve heard as elevator music??

Hmmm, interesting question, Marc. I ride an elevator at work a few times a week but hardly notice the music much (but then again it’s not a very long ride). If only they could just replace all elevator music with movie themes that’d be awesome. I’d love to hear oh, I dunno, Jurassic Park theme at the end of a long day’s work 🙂
