Academy Award-Winning director Barry Levinson has some solid hits on his hands and while this may be new territory for him this looks like another solid win. More like a mash up of a handful of genres than a straight-forward fright fest, The Bay plays with found footage/viral horror, zombie-like ghouls, paranoia and more as well as setting the hysteria against a holiday not unlike Jaws. But like a buffet there’s enough going on to please most viewers. Suffice to say we’re sold, but have a look for yourselves…
Always great to see an established filmmaker branch out and this looks sure to please. Those of you lucky enough to attend this year’s TIFF, you should be among the first to check it out, so please let us know if it’s as good as the trailer…save for that cliche jack-in-the-box scare of course. The rest of us will have to wait for Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions to release Barry Levinson’s The Bay in theaters and VOD this Fall on November 2, 2012. Whatcha think? Anyone game for some eco-terror type scares??

Like you said, I really hope this is as good as the trailer. Looks genuinely freaky as shit.

I see your “freaky as shit” and raise you a “I won’t sleep, or drink water, for days”:P

First: Marc beat me to posting this. And I will never forgive him.
Second: this looks kinda awesome. I’m a little surprised at my own reaction, just because I’m sick to death of found footage, but it looks an awful lot like Levinson is working hard to get around the limitations of the genre by using things like CCTV. So long as he gives everything a good reason to be caught on tape, this should be icky, scary fun.

First: Hahahaha
Second: As of right now, I don’t think I have been this sold on a horror film. But let’s not get put hype machine in into overdrive just yet. Still though, can’t wait:)
