Sweet Trailer…'The Men Who Stare At Goats'

If you don’t know anything about this movie yet, you’re probably asking, what the hell is this movie about?  A sequel to Borat??… some kind of farming documentary??…some art-house flick made by a first year film student??  Well in all three cases you’d be wrong and by the looks of the trailer, this could be one hysterical film…so for now, take a look and enjoy!!

FirstShowing gives us the following on this quirky comedy:

The Men Who Stare at Goats stars George Clooney, Ewan McGregor, Jeff Bridges and is directed by former actor and producer Grant Heslov, of only the comedy Par 6 previously and some episodes of “Unscripted”. The screenplay was written by Peter Straughan, of Sixty Six and How to Lose Friends & Alienate People previously. This is based on Jon Ronson’s book of the same name. The film was produced independently and will premiere at the Toronto Film Festival. Overture Films will be bringing The Men Who Stare at Goats to limited theaters November 6th later this year.

Well I for one am still laughing and am getting the same feeling that I got from The Hangover (which I had a hunch that movie would be a smash success).  As of right now, this trailer has done just what a “glimpse giving” trailer is meant to do – illicit an early opinion to see if you’re interested.  Well I am interested all right and want to see more.  I think the trailer pretty much sums up the feel of the film without divulging everything.  However, I just hope (and pray) that this isn’t misrepresented like Clooney’s recent film Burn After Reading where what we got was vastly different from the trailer.

Sure, some scenes shown look like they may be the best comedy in the movie and it all looks formulaic but I’m going to give this a chance.  What do the rest of you think??

I’m not a fan of Clooney’s but the amusing trailer sold me. Plus it’s got Jeff Bridges being the ‘Dude’-self, Ewan McGregor and Kevin Spacey! I sure hope the movie is as funny as the trailer.

Yeah, the supporting cast looks like they’ll pull their weight and make up for weak parts of the movie. I’m interested in this (though it may be hit or miss) but what do you think about Clooney in ‘Up In the Air’? – I think that looks like it’ll be great!

I just saw the ‘Up in the Air’ trailer yesterday. Judging from the trailers alone, ‘Goats’ looks funnier, but ‘Air’ might be more poignant. Casting-wise, I think I’d go with ‘Goats’ though, plus Clooney looks hilarious with that ridiculous mustache.
