Off the Shelf…’Tomorrowland’
Brad Bird has an affinity for telling heartfelt stories and infusing them with incredible amounts of whimsy and delight, charm and inventiveness. The Iron Giant, The Incredibles, and now Tomorrowland, Bird is proficient in spinning yarns that are as nostalgia-fueled as they are forward-thinking. Tomorrowland presents itself as a duality, which is to say Bird shows us the best we as a society might hope for in a distant future, but also offers a cautionary tale about not taking action while we have the chance. Now it’s not doom and gloom. In fact, it’s fun and fanciful and more so because of the characters, not just the inventions. We are thrown…

We’re a seasonal group here at Go, See, Talk!– one only need go back a month to our Halloween tournament for proof!– and so in the spirit of Turkey Day and giving thanks, we all got together and hand-picked one director, movie, and actor or actress apiece who we’re thankful for. Bill Graham: The director I’m most thankful for is Guillermo del Toro. He lives and breathes monsters, and every time his name is attached to something new, I get a surge…

Sweet Trailer…'Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol'
It’s been about 5 years since Tom Cruise last played the elite agent Ethan Hunt in the popular Mission: Impossible series. In 2006 J.J. Abrams directed the third installment which was very well received. Now Brad Bird (The Iron Giant, The Incredibles) is having his go at the franchise. He is without doubt a gifted stroyteller and a master of the animated universe. But with his first foray into live action, the question came up as to whether or not he could easily cross meduims. Well behold the trailer for the fourth Mission Impossible film Ghost Protocol. While I never had a doubt about Bird’s talents, I am sufficiently impressed.…

Well now here’s a bit of news to carry us well into the weekend. Mr. Iron Giant, or should I better call him Mr. Incredible (aka Brad Bird) has been “officially” tapped to direct the next Mission: Impossible installment. Hey if this keeps up, Ethan Hunt could be the next James Bond…but don’t bet on it. For more on this, here’s an excerpt from Empire Online:
