The fourth film in the wildly popular and successful Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is due to be released on DVD/BD next month. To help drum up some excitement for it Go,See,Talk got to speak with one of the beautiful mermaid syrens of the film. Taking some time out from her whirlwind of popularity, the lovely Ms. Astrid Bergès-Frisbey (who played Syrena) talked about becoming part of the Pirates phenomenon. What follows is the transcription of my all too brief interview with her yesterday. For such a young actress to be thrown into such a beloved franchise she’s taking it all surprisingly in stride. Still not sure she’s dreaming all of this but very much…

Interview…’The Lion King’ Star Moira Kelly
For those of you who grew up loving and living Disney films in the 80s/90s The Lion King probably holds a special place in your memory. Then it should warm your heart that one of Disney’s most mammothly successful hand drawn films is getting a theatrical re-release, only this time in 3D this Friday on September 16th. Following the brief run in theaters Disney will be releasing The Lion King Diamond Edition in 3D for the first time on Blu Ray a few weeks later on October 4th. To help promote the upcoming release, Go,See,Talk got to speak with star Moira Kelly (who played the adult Nala) about her experience with such an impacting and well loved film. The following is…

The Rocketeer FINALLY Gets A Blu Ray Release!!
Last week we got some great news and after months, nay, years of praying one of my very favorite films is getting the Blu Ray treatment it deserves!! For two decades Cliff Secord and the gang have been garnering fans and after all this time this underrated gem has reached the level of cult classic. I’m an admitted die-hard Rocketeer junkie (try typing “The Rocketeer” in our search bar and you’ll find plenty of posts where I’ve either mentioned it or flat out gushed over the film or its fantastic score) and as such Joe Johnston’s serial adaptation of Dave Stevens’ graphic novel has made more trips to the VCR in my childhood than any other film. The previous DVD was…

'Monsters University' Details Emerge From D23 Expo
This year’s D23 Expo had one impressive line up. Those in attendance were hosted to a smorgasbord of unveilings and news that the Pixar plate looked to be booked solid for the next few years. One of the hi-lights was the long awaited (and worked on apparently) follow up, err prequel to 2001’s Monsters Inc. Going in the way back machine, this “before the fact” story will again follow Mike Wazowski and James P Sullivan but this time showing them in their college days. Pretty exciting to say the least right? Yeah I thought so too. There’s more on the story and its development after the jump…

Teaser Trailer…'John Carter of Mars'
Director Andrew Stanton has been hard at work on his big screen adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ classic sci-fi novel A Princess of Mars and all the while we’ve been wondering how it was shaping up. Recently we’ve seen some concept images (after the jump), a lack luster poster but today we get our first glimpse of the world of John Carter. Admittedly its still rough and has a SyFy feel to it but it looks like it’s headed in the right direction. Well how would I know, I’ve never read the book:P Anyway, for your enjoyment, a look at Andrew Stanton’s live-action epic… Sporting a varied but still very…

G-S-T Review…Cars 2
Cars 2 improves on a sequel in every way possible. Sure, many cite 2006’s Cars for being the weakest link in the Pixar chain so making a better sequel was hardly going to be a Herculean effort. Still while Lasseter’s nostalgic trip down memory lane may have been too simple for fans of the animation powerhouse, Cars 2 finds itself more in company with The Incredibles, Wall E and even Finding Nemo with its rousing story, action pieces and tons of eye candy. Much less a look back at his own past, Cars 2 becomes a purely cinematic nostalgia trip, one whose influences find themselves making more than passing homages…

G-S-T Review…Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
Well Pirates fans, Tuesday’s screening of the new Pirates film came and went and I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that On Stranger Tides was just awesome! Sure it has its flaws and somethings they could have done without, but it returned to the elements that made the first Pirates film so successful and beloved. The bad news is that becasue of my enjoying and applauding those similar elements in this movie I’ve become a hypocrite for liking what I loathed in last time in At World’s End. But for those of you worried about the future of the Pirates franchise (this is…

Off the Shelf…'Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End'
Boy was this a bloated piece of barnacle run off. Now I’m not going to try and hide the fact that I just did not like this film. While it was the biggest adventure thus far it just tripped over its own convoluted sea legs and the result was an exposition/character heavy film that was as pointless as it was boring. Whew, glad I got that out. Now as someone who can usually see both sides to a film and is usually a bit more fair than is necessary, I’ll admit there were some interesting bits but I think you’d agree with me when I say I feel At World’s…

Off the Shelf…'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest'
Picking up realtively right after the high of the The Curse of the Black Pearl film, Dead Man’s Chest is everything you’d expect in a sequel. But what Dead Man’s Chest does very well is provide interesting back story and character development. Specifically we find out more about how Jack became Captain as well as the story behind old Bootstrap Bill and Davy Jones’ Locker. Expanding on the wild elements of the first film The Curse of the Black Pearl, namely the Aztec curse, and as Barbossa was one tough act to follow we get not one but three new heavies. It’s yo ho all the way through this epic…

Off the Shelf…'Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl'
Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides comes out this Friday, May 20th so to get ready I revisited the previous three films this past weekend. Huzzah, man was that a good time (except for the last one which is kind of crappy). Disney re-released their trilogy on Blu Ray back in March and I can honestly say that adventures on the high seas have never looked this good which made it all the more enjoyable! So who would have seriously thought than a static amusement park ride would serve as inspiration for such a thrilling and fun-filled film? Well this is Disney we’re talking about and they have the…
