Hey, film fans, we’ve got a fun little video for you. This breezy featurette highlights the all-star cast of the upcoming DreamWorks Animation film hitting the big screen next month. What’s that? You hadn’t heard about The Bad Guys? Well, neither had we, but it sounds like it’s right up our alley. In the new action comedy, a crackerjack criminal crew of animal outlaws are about to attempt their most challenging con yet—becoming model citizens. Never have there been five friends as infamous as The Bad Guys—dashing pickpocket Mr. Wolf (Academy Award winner Sam Rockwell), seen-it-all safecracker Mr. Snake (Marc Maron), chill master-of-disguise Mr. Shark (Craig Robinson), short-fused “muscle” Mr.…

Sweet Trailer…’The Croods: A New Age’
Well, file this under ‘U’ for unexpected, unbelievable, and utterly awesome. One of our very, very favorite films from the last decade is, hands down, The Croods. What Dreamworks and team did was deliver something so inventive, so imaginative, and so darn fun, I can’t understand why it hasn’t captured more of an audience. We raved about it in 2013 (check out our glowing review here) and I’ve loved it every single time I’ve seen it since. And now we have a sequel!! There’s something so incredibly charming about this family dynamic (including the stellar cast who are all back for this sequel) set against the simply gorgeous pre-hysterial narrative…

G-S-T Review…How To Train Your Dragon 2
Four years doesn’t seem like that long ago but DreamWorks Animation has grown by leaps and bounds since their massive 2010 hit and this sequel is an improvement in every sense of the word. How to Train Your Dragon 2 soars past Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders’ film with a second installment that features exquisite animation and an even more exciting and adventurous story – one that colorfully expands on the endearing elements that made the first film such a wild success. In this sequel we get to see Hiccup, Toothless, and the entire village of Berk shown thriving in their dragon-friendly utopia. The Vikings have not only come to…

G-S-T Review…Mr. Peabody & Sherman
Adaptations are always tricky animals because of the questions they raise: What are the rules? Who do you try to please? Is it possible to capture the magic and allure going from source material to another medium? Is there a sure-fire formula to successfully win fans and those new to the material? Many times filmmakers try to answer these questions and when it works, it works well. Other times however it’s an awful, awful mess. Well thankfully Rob Minkoff and DreamWorks, no stranger to adaptations or different mediums, know how to answer such questions. They have achieved the former and as such have another hit on their respective hands. But…

Video Interview…Director Rob Minkoff On Adapting ‘Mr. Peabody & Sherman’
Last week director Rob Minkoff made a stop in Dallas to promote his latest film, the feature-length adaptation of Jay Ward’s classic animated show Mr. Peabody & Sherman. No stranger to animation Minkoff is the driving force behind successful family fare like the Stuart Little series, the Roger Rabbit short films “Tummy Trouble” and “Roller Coaster Rabbit” and of course The Lion King. Yup, he directed Disney’s animated classic way back in 1994 and now 20 years later, going by what we saw at the Press screening, Mr. Minkoff (and DreamWorks Animation) looks to have another huge hit on his hands. We sat down with Rob to talk about the film,…

Sweet Trailer…’How To Train Your Dragon 2′
One of the biggest (and unexpected) hits in the DreamWorks Animation catalog is their medieval adventure story How To Train Your Dragon. Delightful, fanciful, funny and heartwarming that story, about a boy and his dragon, just keeps giving and giving and now, best of all, DreamWorks Animation is giving us a sequel. The trailer for this follow-up to the 2010 film just hit and it looks like more high-flying fun. It features the return of the original cast as well as that patented DreamWorks charm. Enjoy! It’s been five years since Hiccup and Toothless successfully united dragons and vikings on the island of Berk. While Astrid, Snoutlout and the rest…
