    At Mondo (the Austin-based boutique poster and music label), Record Label Production Manager, Mo Shafeek, is responsible for plenty of vinyl soundtracks and film scores you probably spin regularly. Shafeek is a veteran of company, a die-hard film fan and can wax poetic about anything horror, indie, or pop-culture related in the same breath. He’s also just one of two (two!) people producing and releasing a staggering amount of albums in any given calendar year.     Anomalous Material Presents: Desert Island CD Blog-A-Thon

    Last year, Andy of Fandango Groovers spearheaded the amazingly sucessful and infectious Desert Island DVD blog event. This year Castor from the bodacious Anomalous Material has decided to one up our fellow Brit with an event of equal magnitude. What’s that you ask? Well this time around, our desert island get away will be void of a DVD/BD player and widescreen TV. Instead, those creature comforts will be replaced with a comfy chair, super noise reducing headphones and 12 music tracks of our choosing but the catch is that they all be from movies.     Hello World, Marc Here: It’s Tuesday and after watching the Back to the Future Trilogy this weekend, boy was it a treat to hear “The Power of Love”, “Back in Time” and even ZZ Top’s “Doubleback”.  Songs like these are what make other classic movies I love even better.  So it was with the culmination of that 6 hour nostalgia fest that I began thinking of other film songs or theme songs that really get me excited to see the movie every time I hear them.
