After four decades, it’s possible that some Star Wars fans probably didn’t expect significant new yarns could be spun in the universe they love so much. Well, with Rogue One, Gareth Edwards and company crafted the mother of all lead-ins to that tale which took place a long time ago. That’s right. In case you hadn’t heard, Rogue One happens right before Episode IV. So it’s a really bold move leaning a modern story up against the crawl that started it all. While the prequels are something that (increasingly, and over time) many fans wish hadn’t happened, there are some redeeming elements to those films. As such, Rogue One serves…

Sweet Trailer…’Arrival’
Once in a while we get a sci-fi film, or any genre flick for that matter, that takes a worn idea and turns it on its side. Well, Denis Villeneuve (director Sicario, Prisoners) has literally turned sci-fi on its side (the ships anyway) in this awesome trailer for his upcoming feature. Wait, didn’t Ridley Scott already do that in the beginning of Prometheus? Eh, doesn’t matter. This looks awesome, so enjoy the new official movie trailer for Arrival. When mysterious spacecrafts touch down across the globe, an elite team – lead by expert linguist Louise Banks (Amy Adams) – is brought together to investigate. As mankind teeters on the verge of…

Sweet (Teaser) Trailer…’Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’
This week is a good week if you’re a Star Wars fan. The Force Awakens hit Blu-Ray on Tuesday (read our review here) and now we have the first trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Barring the fact the title is a little goofy, director Gareth Edwards looks to be bringing the goods in a major way. One important item to note is that this will be a prequel set before A New Hope, so that should make for an interesting premise…even if this is another Star Wars story involving the Death Star. Anyway, it looks terrific. Enjoy the first teaser trailer for Edwards’ film below! “Rogue One takes place before…

G-S-T Review…Black Nativity
There’s nothing worse than reviewing a mediocre film made up of a trio of elements I actually like. In that respect, Black Nativity is a compressed version of my personal hell; it’s helmed by Kasi Lemmons, the gifted director behind such treasures as Talk to Me and Eve’s Bayou, it boasts a phenomenal cast that begins with Forest Whitaker (nearly ubiquitous in 2013) and ends with Angela Bassett, and it calls on the works of the great Langston Hughes to serve as its foundation. But none of that winds up mattering much, because ultimately Black Nativity winds up doing little more than just existing; it’s there, but it’s not especially good. If you’re a glass half-full type, that suggests the…

G-S-T Double Take Review…The Last Stand
Go,See,Talk resumes their Double Take Review series with the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger to headlining status in Jee-woon Kim’s small town shoot em up The Last Stand. Today Marc Ciafardini and Andrew Crump chime in on what works and what doesn’t in the latest from The Governator and American film debut of of Korean director Jee-woon Kim. Take 1 – Marc Ciafardini: When the son of a drug cartel baron breaks out of a US prison and does a Cannonball run for the Mexico border, there’s only one man who can stop him. Yes, it sounds as trite as any 80’s actioner or B-Movie from that era, but it’s a Schwarzenegger vehicle…
