Hi everybody. Well, we’re completely out of 2021 (whew!) and as we march forward into what the future of cinema holds, let’s take a quick look back to what impressed or depressed us in the last twelve months. On today’s show, I’m again joined by my compadre, my Consigliere, my caballero, Federico Furzan. Together, we run down the best & worst of 2021 as well as our favorite films, film scores, and anticipated features hitting screens in the coming months. How closely do the picks of these two high-flying film friends with low standards align with one another? I guess you’ll have to check out the episode to find out.…

Interview…Composer Kevin Kiner on the Emotion and Intellectual Authenticity to ‘Peacemaker’
There are heroes. There are villains. And then there’s Peacemaker…Fresh from his explosive role in last year’s hit film The Suicide Squad, and from the brilliantly twisted mind of James Gunn, comes PEACEMAKER – a new series achieving peace on HBO Max at any cost starting January 13. The DC spinoff series is written and directed by James Gunn, and the show explores the continuing story of the character that John Cena reprises in the aftermath of Gunn’s 2021 film. The colorful patriot is a compellingly vainglorious man who believes in peace at any cost. And like the titular character, seasoned composer Kevin Kiner doesn’t care how many ear drums he has to kill to give us great music. This…

Podcast Review: ‘The Suicide Squad’
Over the years, we’ve covered a lot of ground on the site. But one thing we’ve always aimed to do was a podcast. Well, after a lot of waiting we’re finally getting to it. As such, I am happy to have have our newest contributor, Federico Furzan, as my co-host (or RIO for all you naval aviators). I’m thinking of calling it ‘Two Os in Goose‘ because of my fondness for Top Gun, but Federico isn’t on board…yet. For our inaugural episode, we covered a slew of topics, and we had a blast jumping all over the map. So much so that we lost track of time. That said, if…

G-S-T Review…Guardians of the Galaxy
There’s an idea that in order to have a good time at the cinema you need to check your brain. That’s not entirely the case when it comes to James Gunn. The surprise hit of the Summer (well coming from Marvel and Gunn success is probably not a surprise) Guardians of the Galaxy is highly entertaining and works as both a film and a comic book movie; it’s just a great time at the cinema. Some have claimed, mostly because of the marketing department, that this could be the next Star Wars. Even at the time this review is being written, in the midst of the white-hot hype surrounding the…

Sweet (2nd) Trailer…Marvel’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’
We’re not going to waste your time with this post. All you need to know is the newest Guardians of the Galaxy trailer is out, so check it out now. Like right now! Like what are you doing still reading this?? Enjoy the awesomeness below!! In the far reaches of space, an American pilot named Peter Quill finds himself the object of a manhunt after stealing an orb coveted by the villainous Ronan. With equal parts sarcasm and action, thanks in large part to James Gunn and the spectacular cast he’s assembled, this looks to be an insanely fun outing. Reminiscent of The Fifth Element (in style and the hybrid sci-fi…

Just Who Are The ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Anyway?
The first trailer (and first poster) for the James Gunn directed Guardians of the Galaxy hit the web and was, in short, a huge surprise that left film fans clamoring for more insight into Phase 2 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We always knew this was going to be a risky movie for the studio and the biggest hurdle was going to be the advertising/marketing. How do you make non-comic fans care about a rag tag team of space misfits they’ve most likely never hear about? Well the teaser did what it needed to (thank you Jimmy Kimmel and Chris Pratt) and now the following featurettes serve to give us all…

Sweet Trailer…Marvel’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’
Here we are comic folk, the moment we’ve been waiting for. After some sneak peeks and speculation as to what was in store for the Guardians of the Galaxy adaptation we get a stellar trailer for this rag-tag ensemble pic. The best thing this production has going for it is that it has no problem having a laugh at itself, like that sly self-awareness that made The Fifth Element such a classic, and that might just be what makes it all click. Personally speaking if we were going to get a live-action adaptation about space misfits I’d rather see Cowboy Bebop but that’s just me. Still James Gunn is able…

Chris Pratt Leaving Seal Team Six, Joining the Guardians of the Galaxy
We’ve been running around casting rumors about Guardians of the Galaxy for over a month now, and while we have an idea of who may (or, of course, may not) be filling out secondary roles, no progress has been made in casting the film’s lead— until now. Ladies and gentlemen, let’s give a warm welcome and a round of applause to Chris Pratt, our new Star Lord. Reading that sentence fills me with a sense of bemusement even more than the idea that Jim Carrey and/or Adam Sandler might be involved with a James Gunn-directed superhero picture. Andy Dwyer? Star Lord? If you asked Dwyer himself whether or not he’d want…

Billy Madison and Ace Ventura Could Be Guardians
One offer decline later, casting rumors continue for James Gunn’s 2014 superhero film, Guardians of the Galaxy. The start of the new year saw rumors cropping up over Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s possible involvement in the picture– he would have played the lead– but it only took about a week for him to turn the role down* and hop on board Sin City 2 instead. But there’s good news! We may have lost a Jo-Go, but we’re potentially gaining an Adam Sandler and/or a Jim Carrey instead! If I’ve earned any privileges in my time writing for Go, See, Talk! and for the web in general, one of them must be a…

Jo-Go In the Running to Guard the Galaxy
Marvel pulled off the finale to their impressive superhero balancing act this year with The Avengers, a trick they look to duplicate with a sequel in 2015. In between now and then, though, the studio– now positioned as one of the film world’s most important blockbusting authorities, at least as far as I’m concerned– looks to unveil a variation on that delicate but bombastic act with Guardians of the Galaxy, which at present boasts a release date of August 1st, 2014. Naturally, that means we know one thing for sure: that there’s very little information for us to go on beyond its title and its projected opening day. True, we…
