Who doesn’t just love the Muppets? With delivery and material geared for kids and adults they have such universal appeal exemplified by they fact that they’re so honest direct and friendly. The Muppet movies are known for their original humor and lovable characters but The Muppet Christmas Carol treads new ground though a lot of the tones and structure here just seem an odd fit. The film is an important distinctive film in the Henson legacy for reasons outside of the on-screen antics. First off, it is the company’s first outright adaptation. Second, and more importantly, it’s the first Muppet film following the passing if the legendary Muppet founder Jim Henson. As such this adaptation, very…

G-S-T Review…The Muppets
The Muppets is a long awaited a reunion concert experience that showcases our old friends doing what they do best: singing, dancing, joking and playing music. What is pretty clever is that not only is this a meta story asking and answering the question “where have the Muppets been?“, it reflects the social mindset that wondered the same thing as if the Muppets were living breathing creatures. But even without the involvement of Frank Oz this still feels like a true Muppet movie with all the charm and allure that has kept the property vibrant for decades. The Muppets are a brand everyone knows and as such we were allowed to jump fuzzy…

More Muppet Madness: PSA For 'The Muppets'
One movie this year has had the pleasure of deep, deep, deep marketing pockets. Without a doubt, the winner of Advertising Campaign of the Year will go to our fuzzy friends The Muppets. A home run literally every time (from the first trailer to this last one) Disney and Jim Henson Studios have really pulled out all the stops. While the video below isn’t entirely a trailer for the upcoming movie or as smart as everything else so, it should still give you a chuckle still as it too showcases the satire and smarts that keep The Muppets socially relevant. So if you need a reminder about cinema etiquette, here’s a quick and funny by…

Parody Trailer…'Being Green' (aka The Muppets)
Now this is getting good! First there was the coy reveal that there was a new The Muppets on the horizon in the trailer for what looked like a dreadful rom-com. Next they took to parodying The Hangover II with their trailer for The Fuzzy Pack. Now it looks like no one is safe from parody and the (marketing) gang is at again it piggy backing the other Green movie this year Green Lantern. Leave it to Henson’s The Muppets to have a laugh at everyone with the added bonus of never offending a single person (yeah I’m looking at you South Park). So this is another trailer expostiory void trailer but…

Off the Shelf…'The Great Muppet Caper'
Personally speaking, it is rare that a film is able to stand up to the ever-changing tastes of the viewer and, nostalgia aside, that film stands the test of time and age groups. While this is no Gone With the Wind or Casablanca, this is a fun movie that I enjoy as much now as I did when I was a child. Few filmmaking studios have consistently made quality films that appeal to all age groups and for different reasons. Jim Henson Studios, a truly crafted troupe of artisans and entertainers, changed the world with high-profile and crowd pleasing ‘puppet theater’. The long running and ever fascinating “Muppet” films capture the imagination…
