Announcing The First Wave Of Fantastic Fest 2014!

The sleepy little town of Austin, TX has been home to lots of businesses and startups but, in the eyes of film fans the world over, the Alamo Drafthouse takes the cake. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Alamo’s film fest aptly named Fantastic Fest. If you ever thought that there’s nothing like the Alamo experience then you better believe a film festival under the same banner would be no different. We attended in 2012 and had our minds blow (check out our coverage here). So as the Fest kicks off next month (it runs September 18th-25th), have a look at the line up of spectacularly wild, weird…

    G-S-T Review…For a Good Time, Call…

For those of you who grew up in the 1980’s, or were old enough to experience that period of filmmaking, it was a great era for the movie industry.  There were so many movies that made us laugh, cry and feel a myriad of other emotions.  One genre really stands out during that period; comedy.  Not just comedy, but female driven comedies.  Goldie Hawn was the queen of comedy films in the 1980’s.  Movies like Private Benjamin, Protocol and Overboard were among the many great successes of that period.  Post-1980’s we saw a sharp decline as female comedies seemingly faded into the sunset.  Three decades later Bridesmaids comes out swinging…

Below is a breezy list of 10 films that don’t usually provide anything more than a diversion when it’s too rainy to go outside and play. This list ain’t all guilty pleasures, these aren’t even bad films. No, most are quite enjoyable on some level or another it’s just that none of them have high replay value or are very memorable. So here are some of my suggestions for something to throw in your DVD/Blu Ray player on rainy days as I find they’re just the ticket to beat the…

    G-S-T Quick 5 – Movies I've Warmed Up To…

OK, here I am, humbly walking on the ground where I, like broken glass, laid out all the bad things I said about these movies. In the past I might have either not been in the right mindset for these films or maybe not been able to comprehend what they were trying to do. While not all of these are masterpieces (some fans would argue that one of them is) the films on this list now get my approval. I now feel much more of a connection with these films and honestly enjoy quite a bit whereas before I would say flat-out “I hated it”. Ah, the folly of youth… ——————————————————————————————————————————————— Boiler…
