What can you say about Ridley Scott‘s work that hasn’t already solidified him as one of the more amazing and versatile filmmakers of our time? Well here’s some more praise – The Martian is easily one of the best movies you’ll see this year, and certainly one of the best of the last five. Scott’s adaptation (of the book of the same name) showcases a multitude of competent decisions and finesse that make The Martian a win in all categories as well as an entirely fun-filled cinematic experience. On the surface level, the film might appear to be a drama, but with healthy injections of Matt Damon charm, this one-man show looks like a variety act…

Sweet (International) Trailer…'Jupiter Ascending’
You’ve got to hand it to the Wachowski siblings – whether you like (or understand) their films they repeatedly put things on screen the likes of which we’ve never seen before. But, at the cost of losing the audience, do they go too far? Perhaps but they’ve amassed a very loyal following even if their work hasn’t really moved the mercury for general audiences since the first Matrix film. In their next sci-fi, let’s call it an “experiment”, the duo look to either further engage or alienate viewers with another grand vision of the future. So far, many aspects of this production (casting, visuals, et al) don’t look like a…

Sweet Trailer…’Jupiter Ascending’
Whether you understand them or not, the Wachowskis play by their own rules and push cinematic boundaries with every singe frame. The Matrix wowed the sci-fi/action world, Speed Racer wowed anime fans almost exclusively, Cloud Atlas wowed half of those who saw it (the other half is still trying to figure out what they saw) and their latest film looks to again cater to a special breed of film fan. Expect this to be just as groundbreaking and ambitious but for now let’s just get to the good stuff…check out the first sweet looking trailer for Jupiter Ascending below. Jupiter Ascending is an intergalactic epic in which humans are near…

G-S-T Top 10 – Movies Off The Beaten Path…Round 3
Going just a bit deeper in to my movie memory and scanning GoSeeTalk’s “Sacred Shelves” and Netflix Instant for some recommendations I’ve lined up 10 more films you may have overlooked. Keep in mind that these aren’t snubbed Oscar winners, but they all have something we think makes them worth watching at least once. Hope you find a few unexpected winners in this batch. Continuing the series, I give you the 3rd Round of “Movies Off the Beaten Path“… —————————————————————————————————————————————– The Way of the Gun – More like the under-appreciated little brother of the The Usual Suspects, this Christopher McQuarrie penned film should derive more attention than it gets. Gun was highly overlooked probably because…

Sean Bean and Aaron Eckhart Cast In 1 of 2 Different 'Pan' Films
Second star to the right and straight on…to a crime scene? Yes that’s what one of two revisionist takes on the J.M. Barrie’s characters (both tenatively titled Pan) might give us. Sean Bean (Goldeneye) and Aaron Eckhart (The Dark Knight) have both been cast in 1 of 2 planned and very different takes on the Peter Pan legend. The first gives us a deeper look at “the boy who never grew up” and we’ll essentially get an origin story. Why is that interesting? Well that’s because in this story, the characters have been rewritten to reveal that Hook and Pan are in fact brothers! Not sure Barrie would like that but…
