One of our very favorite actors of all time is Sylvester Stallone. Yes, you read that right. The man has seen it all and done it all. He’s risen, fallen and risen again and continues to show us what happens if you just keep punching. True, not everything he’s done will be remembered for all time (and some titles are probably better forgotten) but he’s shown us for six decades that he cannot be counted out. So here we are with the next installment of the ‘Expendables‘ series and that’s worth a pause to celebrate. Why? Well, a couple reasons. First is that few thought we’d ever seen another as…

Interview…Ludwig Göransson Goes the Distance with ‘Creed II’
2018 has been a tremendous year for Swedish-born Ludwig Göransson. He’s composed music to five films released this year alone to say nothing of his TV and songwriting credits. A phenomenal musician, and, seemingly, the hardest working man in the business, he’s quick to shrug off the praise, but his output is as varied as it is prolific. Humbly, Göransson says that he’s focused in the studio, and puts in long hours, but doesn’t work all night long. However he gets it done, Göransson‘s work speaks for itself, and his projects truly run the gamut. Ryan Coogler’s Creed didn’t just surprise us, it knocked us out cold. In short, the Creed films…

Sweet Trailer…’CREED II’
To use some boxing vernacular, when Ryan Coogler‘s Creed came out in 2015, it hit me a left hook (the film and the score). Earlier this week, we got our first look at the sequel to this new Rocky-based franchise. To be honest, this does comes as a bit of a surprise. Not just because Creed is a tough act to follow, but going for the emotional connection to previous Rocky films (read: Drago!), seems like the story is already backtracking when it should be moving forward. You can thank Sylvester Stallone who returns in front of the camera, and behind it with a writing credit. It will feel a little…

Sweet Trailer…Rocky Spin-off ‘Creed’
We haven’t posted many trailers lately (being new Dad takes a lot of time) but this one I had to jump on. The upcoming Rocky spin-off, Creed, will follow the story of Adonis Creed, son of former heavyweight champion Apollo. Michael B. Jordan stars as the titular lead, and, you guessed it, he will seek out the one and only Rocky Balboa to be his trainer. Yet, after looking at the trailer, it’s not that simple of a story, nor will it be as hollow as it sounds. After all, this is written and by Ryan Coogler who made waves with Fruitvale Station. It’s gotta be better than Grudge Match, right? Enjoy…

G-S-T Review…The Expendables 3
Right out of the gates, The Expendables 3 aims to show audiences it means business. Not surprising that it’s less than a minute, a mere 54 seconds to be exact, before our heroes’ heavy hardware sends the first of many non-descript bad guys reeling. Like the nameless goon peppered with bullets (rubber bullets it seems from how toned down the action is) pain sets in for the audience as well. The “pain” comes not from groan-inducing dialog, or over-the-top action, but the brain cells struggling to comprehend the blur that is the next 125 minutes. Even with the starts and stops, this hokey 2-hour action fest whisks along which is one of a…
