    While the animation world is still getting over the fact that The Wind Rises signals the officially official retirement of the legendary Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki his final bow has been met with a very deserving Oscar nomination for “Best Animated Feature”. The Wind Rises is quite a departure from the fantastic fare he’s known for and is, in a way, a metaphor for his career.     You’ve got to hand it to the Wachowski siblings – whether you like (or understand) their films they repeatedly put things on screen the likes of which we’ve never seen before. But, at the cost of losing the audience, do they go too far? Perhaps but they’ve amassed a very loyal following even if their work hasn’t really moved the mercury for general audiences since the first Matrix film.
