Aardman Animation is known for their stunning and lavish animation style. In their upcoming feature The Pirates! Band of Misfits they look to reset the bar they’ve been raising for nearly 40 years with the eye-popping and gorgeous animation that has become their trademark. But while that claymation may look simple, creating living breathing characters it is anything but. For those of you who weren’t digging the teaser or the posters for MIIIB feast your eyes on the official first trailer. It’s pretty retro and based mostly in the 60’s which means the Smith/Jones chemistry we were hoping for is going to be minimal. Looks like trailer week continues as today we’re treated to the teaser for Tim Burton’s long awaited Frankenweenie. This animated feature, expanded from his short from 1984, is about a boy who brings his dead dog back to life. Similarly styled and stop-motion animated like A Nightmare Before Christmas and Corpse Bride, this should hit home for those die-hard Burton fans out there. I’m not the biggest Nightmare Before Christmas fan but this does look pretty cute. Ohhh, Look…'Prometheus' Viral – Guy Pearce As Peter Weyland For TED Talk 2023
To promote Promotheus, Ridley Scott’s prequel/not-a-prequel to 1979’s Alien, comes this really neat introduction and apparent tie-in video (thanks to /Film for the heads up). What you’ll see below is the reveal of Guy Pearce’s character in the upcoming film who, in the words of Sir Ridley, is pretty much the only true link between these two films. Nearly a year ago a devastating earthquake and tsunami rocked Japan on March 11th 2011. In memory of the disaster, Fuji Television, in cooperation with Ridley and Tony Scott’s production company Scott Free London, will be producing Japan In A Day, a follow-up to the documentary A Life In A Day. Similar in structure, this will be a 24-hour self-portrait of Japan filmed by the public using any recording device. Additionally 200 cameras will be donated by Fuji for the documentary and will go to people in those areas most affected by the events. The 84th Annual Academy Award Winners (Plus Tribute To The Snubbed Films of 2011)
The 84th Annual Academy Awards came to a close at the Kodak Theater (we’ll move past the fact they’re filing for Chapter 11) with some big wins from some expected but very deserving films and film makers. Hugo and The Artist went toe to toe and both walked away with 5 golden statues. The supporting/leading actor categories were really a tough call as the fields were all populated with masterful performances and talented individuals.
