News hit recently of Daniel Craig being cast for the remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Part of me said, “hell yes!“, while another part of me was lost for words. At first I thought this was a good move and would be glad to see Craig in something new and different since the Bond series is on perpetual hold. But the more I think about this I’m not wild about it. I don’t see the point of casting someone so high profile when their character is far from the main focus of the film. While I admit I have only seen the first film, I honestly don’t know…

Random Film Thought of the Day…07.14.10
I’m not the world’s biggest Nic Cage fan. There I said it. However I will admit although I am so tired of him, some of his of his work has found it’s way on to my Sacred Shelves (National Treasure, Bad Lieutenant and The Rock) and one of them into my heart (just The Rock). I think his over the top acting has its place and one of his goofiest roles has to be in Con Air. That movie is almost the epitome of guilty pleasure and to me some lines just stick out like none other in film history…whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing I’ll never know.…

What Is Your ‘Unbelievable’ Threshold For a Film?
In nearly every film ever made and recorded in the Halls of Cinema (that’s not a real place but wouldn’t be cool if it was?) there is at least one element of story that is completely unbelievable. I’m not even talking about giant robots, super powers or things of that nature, no I’m talking about the grounded/real life un-believe-ablilty. Things like running head shots, non-fatal car crashes and hell, even love stories. I’m sure if you were to take any part of any story line out of the movie and set it on its own in the real world, the end result would probably be bland, awkward and even stupid.…

One Step Closer…
Hello Go,See,Talk fans, Marc here, Well, I just wanted to let you know that I think we’re almost there. This layout is one of the top three contenders for the new look. Some more tweaking is needed before we have a reigning champion. But if this is the format we decide to go with, then I think this little video (albeit a little goofy at the start) fully illustrates my feelings on the matter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rG9CX60T7Ro So happy Friday everyone!! Hope you have an awesome 4th of July, and if there’s no snags, we should be able to return to full vigor on Tuesday the 6th. “Back in Business” indeed:)

Hold on Hollywood…There’s No Fool-Proof “Remake Formula”
In light of the recent success of the remake of The Karate Kid, I thought I would take this time to give it credit for beating the remake odds. Those are the odds that say a film won’t succeed when the predecessor was so amazingly original and thought to be untouchable. Well, (as I have come to learn) times change and sometimes they don’t age well. Certain films do, in fact, need an update or a refreshing to keep a valid story alive. I admit I was one of the fuming masses crying out “Why?” when it was announced but since then have let some hatred subside. After seeing it I also have to say that…

Changes On the Horizon…
This goes out to all you Go,See,Talk fans out there… I have been wanting to make improvements to the site for some time now and while I would like to say change is right around the corner, that would be a lie. Truth is, I have all these ideas about what I want to do and very little time to accomplish it. So why am I telling you about what I’ve yet to complete? Well it is because I have been working on executing some of my “grand design”. First off, I have created the logo for the site. Have a look and let me know what you think:

Comic Book Adaptations – Why Do So Many Fail?
The real Clash of the Titans Comic Book films have certainly come a long way in the past 10 years. There have been some truly sensational films, that spawn even better sequels that keep hope of more films like it alive. Yet there have also been God-awful messes that cannot be unseen no matter what you do. With all the good and bad out there I think filmmakers/studios are finding the groove but things could be a lot better. We need comic book adaptations which will do more than just keep the genre from simply breaking even. Now to start things off, there is no one solitary reason more comic book films fail…

So What Will the Future of Home Media Look Like?
The inspiration for this post comes from Dan with his great post on The Grim Future of Video Rental Stores. Check it out, it’s a great read! But his post got me thinking: If people continually stop going “out to get a rental“, or even purchase the film outright, what will happen to all present and future media, especially when the time comes for a new format war? Dan further asked a damn good question which was “will there be a need for a new format ten years from now?“. My answer is yes, and as a film fan I will take a guess at what the future of Home Media will look…

Easter Eggs In/After The Credits
Does anyone remember watching films made in the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s? In those films, all the credits were at the beginning of the film only thing up at the end were the cast, the words THE END (see above) and that’s about it? I liked those because when the movie was over, you were done. Now, there’s a spot in the credits for everything: every song that was used (even if you didn’t hear it playing) the gaffer, the key grip, the foley artist and all the other trades who worked on the film. Now I’m not saying that anyone who worked on a film is insignificant or that…
