Ohhh, Listen…First M83 Track Released From The 'Oblivion' Score

At G-S-T we’ve become increasingly fond of the group M83. It’s not hard once you listen to a few tracks since they have such a distinct and infectious sound. When Joseph Kosinski began work on his second film after the TRON: Legacy many wondered if Daft Punk would return to knock another score out of the park. Well Kosinski enlisted the above mentioned French group to score the film and that only made the production of Oblivion that much more appealing. Recently the first track from the score, titled “StarWaves” was released (thanks to Rolling Stone for the heads up) and it sounds goooood! Have a listen and enjoy the epic…

    Mendes Too Busy For Bond

A few weeks back, we published a piece detailing the rumors of Sam Mendes’ potential return to the James Bond franchise with its next installment (for now referred to simply as “Bond 24“). While he didn’t rule out the possibility of directing the picture, he offered enough caveats to maintain uncertainty. As of today, he’s given a solid answer, but it’s not the one we wanted to hear: Mendes will not be directing the next Bond movie. At least the news doesn’t come as a huge surprise. Speaking to Empire, he revealed that the decision stems from his prior theater commitments; he’s directing both King Lear and Charlie and the…

Sweet (Bad Ass Really) Trailer…'Iron Man 3'

As Scott Pilgrim would say…”wow, Woow, WOOOOW“. That’s right friends, this trailer is awesome! If you need us to tell you about Iron Man or why you should be getting excited for this movie, sorry, you’ve come to the wrong place. If you’re already immensely psyched for this you have come to the right place, and as such I’ve already wasted enough of your time making you read this. So with that, enjoy my 3 new favorite words aside from the likes of Penny Beer Night and Robert Downey Jr…behold “The Iron Legion“. Enjoy! Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds.…

    Off the Shelf…'Wreck-It Ralph'

Disney and director Rich Moore’s fantastic arcade themed adventure blazes to life on this solid 3D Blu-Ray release. Had you not seen this fun filled adventure in theaters, along with the now Oscar-winning short film Paperman, and manage to see Wreck-It Ralph blind and with no knowledge of its source of origination, you might be inclined to credit the film to Pixar. And while that wouldn’t be an unreasonable guess, you’d be wrong. Ralph has all the bearings of Pixar at its finest, yet Rich Moore’s first feature length effort comes to us from none other than the Mouse House itself. Arriving six months after the release of Brave, Ralph gives weight to the theory that both…

    Sweet Trailer…'Olympus Has Fallen'

Gerard Butler stars in Antonie Fuqua‘s throw-back themed actioner Olympus Has Fallen. In the film, the White House (codeword: Olympus) has been overrun by terrorists and only one man can save the day. Disgraced former Presidential guard Mike Banning (Butler) finds himself trapped inside the White House in the wake of the attack. Using his inside knowledge, Banning works with national security to rescue the President (Aaron Eckhart) from his kidnappers. Total Film posted the exclusive trailer, which is essentially a UK TV spot, and we also found a sweet looking quad poster which is at the bottom of the post. Have a look and enjoy! Directed by Antonie Fuqua, this Die Hard meets Air Force One–styled shoot em…

    G-S-T Review…Jack The Giant Slayer

There’s so much that’s so wrong with Jack the Giant Slayer that it’s difficult to know where to begin. Once upon a time, Bryan Singer actually made a pair of good movies in the 90s before churning out mediocre superhero movies and historical thrillers in the aughts. Somewhere in that timeline he also fell in with Peter Jackson, but you don’t need to pay attention to history to figure that one out; you just need to watch Jack the Giant Slayer, although I wouldn’t recommend it. Maybe the worst crime here, or at least the hardest to fathom, is that somebody in a boardroom actually thought that the concept of a fantasy reinterpretation…

    G-S-T Review…The Sweeney

Gritty cop yarns aren’t what they used to be, literally. Nearly forty years ago, the notion of depicting law enforcers as imperfect was almost unthinkable, but fast forward to now and that’s suddenly become the standard. That’s the expectation. Police procedural stories no longer demand that their central characters be squeaky clean and pure to a fault; today, we want our television and movie cops to have pathos, to be flawed, and sometimes– maybe oftentimes– do whatever they have to in their pursuit of a crook. Maybe that’s a reflection of modern society, or maybe audiences just grew bored with archetypal goody two-shoes hero cops. Either way, ours is a…
