Next week we’ll be treated to the first full trailer for the upcoming film Snow White & The Huntsman. While we wait for that to drop, feast your eyes on the following four featurettes (sorry all of them have unskippable ads). These videos have lead ins from the stars of the film are cover all things from set design to costumes to the characters of this dark and gritty take on the famous story. One thing I wish they might have touched on is the musical score. Was what we heard in the teaser really James Newton Howard’s score or was the TRON/Inception inspired track just a placeholder? Sweet Trailer…'Battleship'
Hasbro must be pleased as punch to see their toy lines expanded and adapted to the silver screen. Sure the plots to the respective stories may be contrived commercials but love them or hate them you can’t say you weren’t at least visually (or nostalgically) entertained. If there’s one series that has really benefited from the found footage style of filmmaking it’s Paco Plaza and Jaume Balaguero‘s [REC]. Yes Paranormal Activity has done well but these days, most horror films shot this way would be a stretch to get people on board for anything past the first film. Ohhh, Look…Sound and Scoring Featurette for 'John Carter'
Andrew Stanton’s first foray into live action filmmaking hit theaters hard this weekend (but not enough to take the top spot at the box office). While the visuals transported us to an otherworldly epic so too did the sound and music of John Carter. Today’s science fiction has a debt to Edgar Rice Burroughs. The man created what is widely considered one of the first alien worlds that leaved and breathed outside of our own realm. I have a feeling that a lot of people are going to peg Silent House as the latest horror film to engage in gimmickry through its apparent adoption of the found footage conceit, and they’ll be completely incorrect to do so. In the first place, it’s not a found footage film whatsoever.
