OK, here I am, humbly walking on the ground where I, like broken glass, laid out all the bad things I said about these movies. In the past I might have either not been in the right mindset for these films or maybe not been able to comprehend what they were trying to do. One of my favorite elements in a film is a succesful (and memorable) monologue. When an actor can deliver a series of lines and carry the scene on the talent of that speech, it brings a certain weight to the movie. G-S-T Quick 5 – Replay Value on Movies with 'Twist Endings'
For a time in my life I was very much into the types of movies that had twist endings, and it was all I talked about. To this day, my favorite movie with an “ah ha” ending is And Then There Were None (which is such a well done film – I really have to watch it again soon). First off, let me preface this by saying that trying to compile a great buddy flick list is going to be hard enough. There are so many movies that fit this description it’s almost it’s own genre. Last night I watched Encino Man and it just reminded me of some other films that I really enjoy but were similarly (especially looking back now) cheezy. To be fair, they aren’t “god awful messes” but they still suffer from things like bad acting, and poor script writing, etc, and the quintessential synthesizer music that dominated the 80’s. Growing up with animated features, one of the things I never really cared for in Disney films were the musical numbers.
