Thinking back on the achievements of Pixar, they really are the best in the business. Having all but defined what a CGI film should be, they continue to improve and ultimately amaze, delight and just plain win over audiences. Since everyone knows that Toy Story was really their big break, I’m glad that they have explored so many other stories and characters instead of trying to ride out, what could have been, a “one trick pony”. The efforts of John Lasseter and more recently Brad Bird have created, in my opinion, “perfect films” in terms of plot, characters and content. Also they have been able to create the type of film that has elements, jokes and themes to appeal to all age groups.
Last week, this teaser was released for the upcoming Toy Story 3. Its hard to believe that it’s been 10 years since we’ve seen these characters, but to Pixar’s credit, they have this genuine ability to make their films timeless. In my opinion, Toy Story 1 and 2 don’t seem dated at all and Pixar is able to take us back to that world without missing a step. With a decade having passed, another entry to the franchise wasn’t on most audience’s wish list (considering the amazing achievements Pixar has made outside of the ‘Toy’ box), but deep down I think we’ve all wanted to see Woody and Buzz again. I imagine most people will be overjoyed to hear that Pixar is moving forward with this.
So, with that said, here’s the teaser. I think the charm is still right where they left it. If you haven’t seen it, enjoy, and if you have, well, enjoy it again…
