One of the more imaginative horror movies to hit theaters this year is The Houses That October Built. Filmed in and around the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex a few years ago, it uses the concept of found footage and haunted house attractions being more than what they appear. Our buddy Mark Walters of BigFanBoy.com had a chance to sit down with Bobby Roe (star and director), Zack Andrews (producer and actor), Brandy Schaefer (actress) and Mikey Roe (actor) and chat a bit about the film and their journey making it.
This is one of those “local boys make good” stories, and I’m happy to say the film is really cool too. Check out the interview below, and look for the film this weekend (also on VOD) – it’s also out on DVD in January of 2015.
Here’s a clip, referenced in the interview…
Beneath the fake blood and cheap masks of countless haunted house attractions across the country, there are whispers of truly terrifying alternatives. Looking to find an authentic, blood-curdling good fright for Halloween, five friends set off on a road trip in an RV to track down these underground Haunts. Just when their search seems to reach a dead end, strange and disturbing things start happening and it becomes clear that the Haunt has come to them…
The Houses That October Built is now playing in AMC Theaters in Dallas, New York and LA (and other select markets) as well as VOD, and hits DVD in January of 2015.
