TRON – loved/hated, esoteric and dated has, after 28 years, been given a proper sequel. This isn’t the first time a film has been dusted off and given a follow-up after the fact, but the real question is (in the case of TRON specifically): How do you make a nearly 30 year old property relevant again? Why, “Reboot” it of course (and that seems all the more funnier since this is a computer based film). Sure reboots have been all the rage in Hollywood in the last decade but it’s yielded mixed results. But in this case, doing so does the world of TRON quite a proper service. While Legacy has…

Sweet Teaser…'Rise of the Planet of the Apes'
If Tim Burton’s take on Planet of the Apes, didn’t do anything for you, then maybe this prequel (of sorts) from Rupert Wyatt may do the trick. Starring James Franco, Brian Cox, Andy Serkis this origin story set in present day San Francisco, tells the tale of man’s experiments with genetic engineering leads to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy. Worth a look if you like the series or are a big fan of convincing mo-cap… I hope that this (like Ridley Scott’s Prometheus looks to do) will serve to compliment the first film, Planet of the Apes with a fitting bookend.…

More 'CARS 2' Stuff Than You Can Shake a Tire Iron At
While I thought we were nearing the end of the Cars 2 roll out of vehicles and promo materials, turns out I was so very wrong. Recently Pixar has been unveiled more characters, photos, posters and just recently, a stunning triptych for you to drool over. Click the image below to see the beautiful hi-rez version as you’ll be taken to the Apple Image gallery to view more (read: TONS) of Cars 2 pics… Also, featured below are some vintage posters, brand new cars (Max Schnell is the wittiest name yet), some proper English automobiles and even John Lasseter’s very own Cars alter ego. Enjoy!!

Off the Shelf…'TRON'
When I originally reviewed TRON, I was heretofore unfamiliar with the likes of Flynn, Sark, MCP etc and as such enjoyed my first time viewing of this cult classic completely free of nostalgia. Last week Disney re-released TRON (this time in a stunning Blu Ray transfer) and after re-watching it I’ve come to realize just how special TRON really is. True, it is known for being esoteric, artsy, a bit goofy and unintelligible but TRON is more than just the sum of its parts. Further, it’s a lot smarter than the laughable light suits let on.

Sweet (International) Trailer…’X-Men: First Class’
Hello World, Marc Here: I don’t know about you but X-Men: First Class just looks better and better with everything that gets released. Maybe it was the red herring in the form of the lousy looking cast photo (which was really more of a concept than anything else) that made people doubt it initially. Good thing because usually when you write something off early, it’s very likely to get better with time. Case in point. The initial First Class teaser looked really good, really really surprising and now we have an even sweeter looking “International” trailer (rough quality not withstanding). Have a look for yourselves… It seems things could be…

'Man of Steel' May Kneel Before…Michael Shannon?
If we humble film fans know anything about Christopher Nolan it’s that he likes to mess with our heads. Since Zack Snyder is helming the new Superman film Man of Steel for Mr. Nolan, it seems Zacky-boy wasn’t quite honest with us regarding the villain of his new film. So what does that mean you ask. Well I’ll cut to the chase. When we were told the would be no kneeling before Zod, that was, in fact, a lie (read: LIE)! Over the weekend a very unlikely actor has been announced for a pivotal and highly speculated role in Man of Steel. From Screen Rant, we get a little more…

DIFF Review…The Presence
Writer/director Tom Provost brings ghost story to the screen that is part Alfred Hitchcock, part Rod Sterling and, to some degree, Agatha Christie while delivering the creepy goods those names are known for. From the beginning, The Presence creates quite an impact with an almost over-powering score that builds throughout the opening credits. After that it gets quiet, a little too quiet. The story begins with a melancholy Shane West mulling around a stark wooden cottage looking a bit lost. Then it switches focus to Mira Sorvino who is heading to her family’s remote cottage to do some work for her undisclosed profession. Turns out they’re both going to be staying at the…

Ohhh, Look…60's Inspired 'X-Men: First Class' Title Sequence
Hey now, would ya look a this! For years, Saul Bass’ work has inspired many imitators but I think we may have a new heir to the throne. Whoever created this has a future in film, advertising, you name it. Since Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men prequel is based in the 60’s, this artist (read: gifted genius) has created a fan-made “retro” intro for the film that is just swanky. “Classy baby” is about all I can say for now. Have a look! So while I’m already suped excited for this throw-back take on the Uncanny X-Men, this and the retro inspired magazne covers have been enough so send me into a frenzy.…
