OK, stop what you’re doing. There’s a new Michael Keaton movie on the horizon….and to those of you skimming the title and body of this post too fast, no, he’s not taking up a new cape and kicking crime’s ass (we wish). But he is however starring in the latest from Alejandro Innaritu. In a premise so crazy it might just work fantastically (again, we hope) Michael Keaton is, in fact playing a has-been actor who played a superhero earlier in his career and now seeks so reclaim his former glory in this dark and slightly trippy looking comedy. [Disclaimer: this is in no way autobiographical]
This week we’ve seen the long awaited trailer to the long awaited sequel to Dumb & Dumber and today we posted the trailer for The Interview, a film that might just be Seth Rogen and Adam Goldberg’s magnum opus. So now, on with another trailer that by the looks of it just might equally have the makings of irreverent comedy gold!
A washed-up actor who once played an iconic superhero must overcome his ego and family trouble as he mounts a Broadway play in a bid to reclaim his past glory.
Alejandro Innaritu directs the dark comedy Birdman for Fox Searchlight which stars Michael Keaton (hooray!), Emma Stone, Naomi Watts, Edward Norton, Amy Ryan, Andrea Riseborough and Zach Galifianakis. The film is scheduled for release this Fall on October 17, 2014 which is not soon enough if you ask us. Say, didn’t Nicholson (as the Joker) refer to Keaton (playing Batman) as “junior birdman“? Ok, now we’re stretching. Again, October can’t get here soon enough.
