Sweet Trailer…'Argo'

Ben Affleck impressed a lot of people with Gone Baby Gone and The Town, but while we were only half impressed with his Boston rendition of HEAT, he still has some undeniable talent. His next project is an ambitious story which details the declassified events about a hostage crisis that took place in Iran on November 4th, 1979. 6 of 52 American hostages managed to escape the siege when militants stormed the U.S. embassy in Tehran. Taking refuge in the home of the Canadian ambassador, the film shows the efforts that CIA “exfiltration” specialist Tony Mendez (Ben Affleck) came up with to get them safely out of the country. Have a look for yourselves…

Wow, that looked really, really good. The choice of music kind of gave an uneven tone to the trailer though it probably plays up the comedic parts of the film which balance the story. Still, this looks solid. As truth is most times stranger and more unbelievable than fiction, Argo looks like a story that deserves to be told. Here’s hoping Affleck is up to the challenge. With a cast equal to the awe-inspiring as the events, Argo is directed by Affleck and stars Alan Arkin, Bryan Cranston, John Goodman, Zeljko Ivanek, Richard Kind, Scoot McNairy, Chris Messina, Michael Parks, Kerry BisheKyle Chandler, Rory Cochrane, Christopher Denham, Tate Donovan, Clea DuVall, Victor Garber and Taylor Schilling.

Warner Bros. has set Argo for release this Fall on October 12th, 2012. What do you think? This look interesting at all??

Looks great. I think Affleck’s doing himself more favors with his directing gigs than anything else, and after being impressed only with his direction in The Town, I’m looking forward to him being in charge of the whole show again.

    Plus, that cast is amazing.

Yeah, I was very impressed with The Town (less so Gone Baby Gone, need to watch it again) so I’m looking forward to Affleck’s new film.

I’m the exact opposite Dan, but still, looking forward to this. This got moved way up on my To See list. When’s the UK release date?
