Sweet Trailer…Edgar Wright's 'The World's End'

The-Worlds-End HeaderThis year, barring some minor misfires, has been an outstanding year for films and it looks like things are only going to get better from here on in. Of the staggering amount of awesomeness coming down the pike in 2013 we’ve highlighted the films we’re most excited about and this Summer, between the comic book and sci-fi madness, we’ll finally get to see the final leg of Edgar Wright‘s so-called “Blood and Ice Cream” trilogy.

We posted some still shots last year but the first trailer for Wright’s uproarious looking comedy The World’s End has just been released so have a look below…

It’s a full on alien invasion threatening the planet and in the midst of the world ending insanity there’s still time (hopefully) for a band of five friends who reunite in an attempt to top their epic pub crawl from 20 years earlier while unwittingly becoming humankind’s only hope for survival. Sounds oddly fun but pretty much all you need to know about this can be summed up by the names Wright, Pegg and Frost. Joining them for their pub crawling blaze of glory are Martin Freeman (BBC’s Sherlock), Paddy Considine (Hot Fuzz), and Eddie Marsan (The Disappearance of Alice Creed).

Directed by Edgar Wright, The World’s End is set to crash into theaters this Summer on August 23rd, 2013.

I kind of wish they just made a movie about old friends getting back together to relive a legendary night of bar hopping. I’m mush more fond of that half of the idea. 😉

I completely agree with you Dan. It seems like two ideas that don’t cohere but then again it’s Wright and he made Spaced work when really it shouldn’t have:P
