Sweet Trailer…'Shame'

From writer/director Steve McQueen comes the controversial and sexual drama Shame. It’s about Brandon, a 30-something New Yorker, who’s private life (which allows him to indulge his sexual addiction) begins to unravel after his sister moves into his apartment for an indefinite stay. Starring Michael Fassbender (Inglourious Basterds) and Carey Mulligan (Drive) this trailer gives just a hint at the anxious intensity to be expected in McQueen’s follow up to Hunger. Have a look, it’s pretty riveting…

Wow huh? Seemingly in the same vein of Black Swan and other dark but powerful films like it, McQueen’s latest feature is a courageous exploration of modern life’s extremes. Despite the controversy around the film’s content, Fox Searchlight is taking a stand and embracing the NC-17 rating as they “think NC-17 is a badge of honor, not a scarlet letter. We believe it is time for the rating to become usable in a serious manner. The sheer talent of the actors and the vision of the filmmaker are extraordinary. It’s not a film that everyone will take easily, but it certainly breaks through the clutter and is distinctive and original. It’s a game changer.

Fox Searchlight will be releasing Shame in theaters this Fall on December 2nd, 2011. With such a foreboding and weighty trailer I for one can’t wait to see this. But what do you all think? Anyone like the look of this? Anyone a fan of his previous McQueen film Hunger??

Mulligan gives a good performance here that it weightier than Drive and one that’s a bolder step to breaking her of the pixie haired stereotype. If you liked either McQueen’s Hunger or Fassbender in general than this’ll be right up your alley…it’s very in your face so watch out:P Thanks for the comment Colin and welcome to G-S-T!
