Great Scott!! The “future” is just two days away. And similar to May 4th, 10/21/2015 is a date held in high regard by the film and geek communities alike. After living with images of the Cafe ’80s and Pitbull hoverboards in my head for the past 26 years, I’m jazzed that the world is getting closer to that vision of tomorrow imagined by Robert Zemeckis and co. for Back to the Future II. So while some notice/lament the lack of flying cars in “our” future, I’ll gladly take Mondo’s magnificent looking BTTF trilogy score (which includes some Alan Silvestri-composed tracks that are being released for the first time evar!!!) over…

Great Scott!!…’Back to the Future’ Turns 30
This is heavy. 30 years ago, lightning struck the clock tower of an unassuming California town, and the world hasn’t been the same since. Back to the Future is an incredible piece of filmmaking – full stop. Further, it is one of the rare occasions where a film’s legacy is only eclipsed by its fun factor. The landmark film has inspired countless filmmakers, artists, and entertainers…there are even Back to the Future LEGOs if that tells you anything. The impact it’s had on pop culture shows that the property has truly captured the hearts of an entire generation. In fact, years ago, we created a blog event titled “Films That…

G-S-T Top 10 – Actors Unable to Escape Their Characters
This Top 10 goes out to all the talented actors out there who just don’t get a fair shake in Hollywood. Sure, many celebrities on this list have made obscene fortunes on their respective cinematic personalities, and are capable thespians. But success does have its downside; namely the inability for the actor in question to get a sufficient role or body of work to help distance them from such a solid, iconic, memorable or even annoying character. Now, to be fair, some of the actors on this list are very talented performers. Yet all their efforts fall by the wayside due to one singular role (or roles) that very nearly define…

Ohhh, Look…'Cars 2' Inspired Cinematic Vehicles
For those of you who get their kicks on Route 66 from seeing cars with giant eyeballs, have a gander at these Pixar inspired interpretations (read: no actual Pixar affiliation) of famous film automobiles. Hey, I more or less like Cars (well, mainly just Cars 2) and got a kick out of these, maybe you will too…Enjoy!

G-S-T Top 10 – Scenes I Could Watch Over and Over and Over…
Taking huge inspiration (read: ripped off the idea) from Ruth at FlixChatter, I have decided to compile my own of the scenes I love to watch. These, as the headline suggests, are sequences in some of my favorite movies that I think I could watch on never-ending repeat. But before we begin, I would like to apologize up front for the varying quality of these videos (and in some cases the non-existent video of the sequence I’m referencing)…although it is YouTube after all right? So while this is about all the exposition a post like this requires, let’s get on with it, shall we?

G-S-T Multi Blog-A-Thon: “Films That Defined Us”
I’m sure that if you gathered all of us cinephiles/cinebloggers you’ll find that our lives as film fans are pretty comparable; we started watching movies at a young age and basically never stopped. Certain films (good or bad as they may be) have indelibly cemented our tastes and forever determined what we liked and didn’t like from that point on. Some are classics, others are are only classics in our minds. Some are dumb fun, some are iconic and others evoke weird stares from our friends. Either way, certain films in our lives take prominence above all others because of the impact they had on us at the time and probably for the rest of our…

Ohhh, look…Classic Movie Posters Re-imagined
A few weeks ago, /Film ran a post featuring the inspired artwork of very talented young artist Brandon Schaefer. While /Film showcased the more popular film posters, I went back to look at Brandon’s site. Well lucky I did, as I found more than a few surprises. However, the one I was most excited to see was The Rocketeer. Since it is one of my favorite movies (and I’m not alone am I Ruth?) I just had to post it. I’ve also attached some of the ones I really enjoyed. Damn this guy is just uber talented. It’s tough to find that delicate balance between minimalist and boring. But he…
