    Blog-A-Thon: 'Houdini's Magic Ticket'

Hello World, Marc Here, Today we get to partake in one of the most fun Blog-A-Thons I’ve ever been party to. Dan at Top10Films.uk has created a doozy of an event that has probably stumped many a film fan with this infinitely creative cinematic quandary. “What would you do if you were given Houdini’s Magic Ticket from the Ah-nuld film Last Action Hero“? I know that might have you really dig for something creative before you gave your answer, but how about 8 questions that really make you think?? Click below to see the 8 taxing questions that would hopefully make any film fan run wild were they given use of said…

A Life In Movies – Presented By Fandango Groovers

Andy at Fandango Groovers Movie Blog has put together one doozy of a blog event. So simple yet so brilliant. Titled “A Life In Movies” He’s asked us to hi-light one movie for every year since we were born. Easier said than done as so many great films came out in the 80’s it’s hard to lock in just one film per entry. Also some years just had too many good films that were so dear to my heart I’ve included them as Honorable Mentions since I simply couldn’t overlook them. In a way this is similar to the “Films That Defined Us“. Now most of these movies should speak for themselves which…

Anomalous Material Presents: Desert Island CD Blog-A-Thon

Last year, Andy of Fandango Groovers spearheaded the amazingly sucessful and infectious Desert Island DVD blog event. This year Castor from the bodacious Anomalous Material has decided to one up our fellow Brit with an event of equal magnitude. What’s that you ask? Well this time around, our desert island get away will be void of a DVD/BD player and widescreen TV. Instead, those creature comforts will be replaced with a comfy chair, super noise reducing headphones and 12 music tracks of our choosing but the catch is that they all be from movies. Man, selecting these songs is actually the tougher question. Sure I could answer what movies I’d watch…

Go, See, Talk's "12 Days of Kurosawa" Starts Today!!

Hello World, Marc Here: I’ve been meaning to get into some serious Akira Kurosawa for a long time now. Having only seen Seven Samurai, I realize I am waaay light on my Kurosawa. So what better way to finish off the year/holiday season and become better versed in the work of such a legendary filmmaker (who would have turned 100 this year) than to make an event around it? That said I am launching something called the 12 Days of Kurosawa. Starting today I’m going to watch a different film of his (his 12 best) each day which will take me right to December 24th. On Christmas Day, I’ll post…

    Desert Island DVDs…The Elite Eight

Joining in a multi-blog topic started by the sweet site Fandango Groovers, today’s post is a fun cinematic exercise. Andy asked us to give our input on the following hypothetical situation: “Were you to be stranded on a Desert Island, what 8 films would you take with you?”…provided they had electricity, a decent video set up and your choice of movie candy and adult beverages of course:) Thinking long and hard about this, I have tried to come up with 8 films which I can neither live without, or get tired of seeing. But after about an hour, it was easier than I thought because these are 8 of 10 films I carry on…
