    G-S-T Review…The Dark Knight Rises

A third film seems to be the biggest pitfall in nearly every trilogy. Some see it as a challenge, and that’s likely what propelled director Christopher Nolan to return to the helm of the franchise he rebooted in 2005 with Batman Begins and hit out of the park in 2008 with The Dark Knight. Nolan has been trending steadily upward and seemed to be making strides to not only top his second Batman film, but also send him off with the knowledge that he created one of the greatest trilogies of the modern age and avoided the common trappings of the blockbuster films in the post-Avatar 3D era. Perhaps that was simply too much…

G-S-T Quick 5 – Best Nolan Batman Moments (Leading To The Dark Knight Rises)

Harvey Dent once said that “The night is darkest just before the dawn.” and tomorrow, so say the trailers, TV spots and WB’s immense marketing campaign, that Knight will rise. So instead of us putting up a CineMagic 8-Ball post since everybody on the planet is going to go see The Dark Knight Rises this weekend, I thought I would give Grady the day off and instead offer up what I think are the 5 Best Nolan Batman Moments in the first two installments of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy. Enjoy the path to The Dark Knight Rises. ——————————————————————————————————————————————– At some point in life, everyone needs a little push and even though Bruce…

Sweet (Final) Trailer…'The Dark Knight Rises'

Looks like it’s all come down to this, we have one final full trailer for the final installment in the Nolan Batman saga. Some of this you’ve seen, some of this is new, but it’s all just a hint of the magic to come this Summer. To quote the Joker in The Dark Knight, “Here, we, go…” Eight years after Batman took the fall for Two Face’s crimes, a new terrorist leader, Bane, overwhelms Gotham’s finest, and the Dark Knight resurfaces to protect a city that has branded him an enemy. Warner Bros. has slated The Dark Knight Rises for release (on regular and IMAX theaters) everywhere this Summer on July 20th, 2012.

Sweet 3rd Trailer…'The Dark Knight Rises'

Well Bat-friends, we are getting ever closer to the last leg in Chritopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy. Batman Begins and The Dark Knight are two of the finest comic book adapations to ever grace the screen but more important are also just great films. Nolan has incredible reverence for the characters and the mythology and before we go up, up, and away with his Man of Steel project, here’s his final foray into the Gotham part of the DC universe. Behold, the final full trailer for The Dark Knight Rises. Was that awesome or what?? No honestly, tell us because we couldn’t watch it. Reason? Well, we believe that a film as…

    Sweet Trailer…'The Fighter'

Was going through the hot sheets (read: Sites We Like) and came across this trailer. Frankly I had forgotten about it but now I’m glad that it’s back on my radar. The bizarre teaming of Christian Bale (in another shocking change in his physical appearance) and Mark Wahlberg (of all people right?) seem to have an intersting chemistry for their upcoming film The Fighter. We had written about this last year and I’m actually quite eager to see this. Have a look at the trailer and let me know what you think… The latest effort from David O. Russell (Three Kings, I Heart Huckabees) tells the true tale of Mickey Ward…

    G-S-T Quick 5 – Hollywood’s finest working (foreign) actors

I’ve often said that some of the best American actors aren’t even from America.  Without much more reasoning, other than I immensely like these actors and the varied parts the play, I present G-S-T’s latest Quick 5 list. Let me clarify, right off the bat, that this list is not some pretentious or whimsical list touting praise for the likes of near acting gods such as Sir Anthony Hopkins, Sir Ben Kingsley, Gary Oldman, Bill Nighy etc.  What I am attempting to do here is celebrate great actors (which I love) who may one day reach the heights and milestones those legendary actors have already garnered.  So in no particular…

    Off the Shelf…’3:10 to Yuma’

Let me start by saying that I have never seen the original 3:10 to Yuma so I have no basis for comparison nor did I cry blasphemy at the idea of this remake.  I usually try to see the originals before their remakes (which, most times, are less than flattering) but something about most Hollywood “golden oldie” Westerns just don’t do it for me, so I just didn’t make the effort this time.  Regardless, I have been a big fan of Russell Crowe and Christian Bale and so when this first came out on DVD I gave it a shot and was ultimately very impressed.  Since this was my third time…
