Sweet Trailer…'The Fighter'

Was going through the hot sheets (read: Sites We Like) and came across this trailer. Frankly I had forgotten about it but now I’m glad that it’s back on my radar. The bizarre teaming of Christian Bale (in another shocking change in his physical appearance) and Mark Wahlberg (of all people right?) seem to have an intersting chemistry for their upcoming film The Fighter. We had written about this last year and I’m actually quite eager to see this. Have a look at the trailer and let me know what you think…

The latest effort from David O. Russell (Three Kings, I Heart Huckabees) tells the true tale of Mickey Ward (Wahlberg) and how he went on to win the lightweight championship with the help of his half-brother Dicky (Bale). Eklund once fought Sugar Ray Leonard and nearly went the distance against the boxing legend before forfeiting his career to drugs and crime. He redeemed himself by training Ward through his Rocky-like run to the title.

After seeing the trailer, it looks suspiciously like Mark Wahlberg’s Invincible set in a boxing ring, but that may just be me. I’m still interested to see it. How about all of you? Anyone like this so far?? The Fighter is set for release December 10 this Fall.

Great minds think alike eh Marc? I have this trailer up too, and so is Heather 🙂 I’m up for this though I don’t know if I can handle seeing it in the theater with all that fighting, but dvd for sure (so I can ffwd the bloody scenes). I’m interested more for Bale, aside from the shape-shifting part, looks like he’s turning it yet another memorable performance. I’m hoping he gets some awards love next year!

On a side note, I’m curious to see the behind-the-scene stuff, lots of hot-headed dudes in this movie, especially O. Russell 🙂

Just like always:) It has such an appeal to it…although I’m not sold on Amy Adams in this movie.

On a side note I was going to put up “The Tourist” but I was so disappointed at the non-existence of our guy TD that I just didn’t feel like it. I’ll still probably see the movie but as of now I feel like a kid who didn’t get the Christmas present he asked for:P

Really looking forward to this, Bale and Adams are two of my favorite actors and I hope this is Bale’s time to get his overdue Oscar nod.

Totally! When I was watching this I thought “when the hell did Mark get an Oscar nom?” as well as “Bale hasn’t got one yet??”

I’m getting the feeling Bale’s character will be like Norton’s “Worm” in Rounders…very excited actually and glad I’m not the only one:)

Looks great! I have been wanting to see something from this for awhile now, and I’m not disappointed. Bale looks like he’ll finally get the Oscar nomination that he’s deserved for so long now.

I’m glad it looks a little gritty and not like some Disney inspirational sports movie. Also am a big fan of David O and have been wanting to see more from him.
