    G-S-T Review…Gangster Squad

Based on a book by Paul Lieberman, Gangster Squad tells the true story of the secretive police unit that took down real life mobster Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn). In the film, just as it happened in real life, this elite group of officers were assembled for their uniqueness and proved to be the one and only method of freeing up the choke-hold Cohen had on L.A. in the mid to late 40’s. Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) wastes no time immersing us in what kind of movie this will be. Like a whirlwind we are swept up in a kidnapping in progress that shows us Sgt. John O’Mara (Josh Brolin) and his talent for following his hunches even if it most…

    Sweet Trailer…'Gangster Squad'

Before we ever get Zombieland 2, Ruben Fleischer will treat us to the sweetest noir since LA Confidential or The Untouchables. Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and–if he has his way–every wire bet placed west of Chicago. And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are under his control. Like Elliot Ness in his fearless pursuit of Al Capone, a small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O’Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling) come together…

For those of you interested, hope you’ll get huge laughs from this NSFW red band trailer… Ted: Restricted Trailer…

    G-S-T Review…Contraband

Editor’s Note: Go,See,Talk presents this review of Contraband our guest contributing writer Bill Graham. Have a look at what he had to say about this Mark Wahlberg actioner and offer your thoughts below. Heist films typically come down to how the protagonists will pull it off. Rarely is there drama about if they will succeed. Which means the idea behind the heist has to be intelligent enough to stand on its own. Everything before and after is just noise in the case of Contraband. Violent and dumb, this material is elevated to passable entertainment because of the actors within. Mark Wahlberg, J.K. Simmons, Kate Beckinsale, Giovanni Ribisi, and Ben Foster pepper the…

    G-S-T Quick 5 – Movies I've Warmed Up To…

OK, here I am, humbly walking on the ground where I, like broken glass, laid out all the bad things I said about these movies. In the past I might have either not been in the right mindset for these films or maybe not been able to comprehend what they were trying to do. While not all of these are masterpieces (some fans would argue that one of them is) the films on this list now get my approval. I now feel much more of a connection with these films and honestly enjoy quite a bit whereas before I would say flat-out “I hated it”. Ah, the folly of youth… ——————————————————————————————————————————————— Boiler…
