Ohhh, Look…Christopher Nolan Shooting ‘Oppenheimer’ on IMAX

When it comes to big time filmmakers, it’s tough to get any more majestic than Christopher Nolan. Looking back over his career, even his more quaint outings were still brimming with grandiose plots and through lines. Since the days of Following and Memento, he’s helped re-imagine super hero films, heady heist films, detective yarns, war narratives, intergalactic family affairs, and techy spy thrillers. One thing is for sure, Nolan films are event films. Case in point. His latest is an epic thriller that thrusts audiences into the pulse-pounding paradox of the enigmatic man, J. Robert Oppenheimer, who must risk destroying the world in order to save it. It was one…

Never have there been five friends as infamous as The Bad Guys—dashing pickpocket Mr. Wolf (Academy Award winner Sam Rockwell), seen-it-all safecracker Mr. Snake (Marc Maron), chill master-of-disguise Mr. Shark (Craig Robinson), short-fused “muscle” Mr.…

Ohhh, Look…Full Album Artwork for Mondo’s BACK TO THE FUTURE Vinyl Release

Great Scott!! The “future” is just two days away. And similar to May 4th, 10/21/2015 is a date held in high regard by the film and geek communities alike. After living with images of the Cafe ’80s and Pitbull hoverboards in my head for the past 26 years, I’m jazzed that the world is getting closer to that vision of tomorrow imagined by Robert Zemeckis and co. for Back to the Future II. So while some notice/lament the lack of flying cars in “our” future, I’ll gladly take Mondo’s magnificent looking BTTF trilogy score (which includes some Alan Silvestri-composed tracks that are being released for the first time evar!!!) over…

    Ohhh, Look…’Mortdecai’ Behind-the-Scenes Video

January and February get a bad rap for being the two months when movie studios quietly release films they have little faith in. Well, as you’ll see with Kevin Macdonald’s upcoming Black Sea, the top of the year is not an all out schlockfest. There are some quality gems to be found and, from the looks of the trailers, we’re really hoping that Mortdecai is one of those diamonds in the rough. The film opens next week (moved from the previously announced February date) and we have a new featurette to help celebrate its release. Check out the behind-the-scenes video with the all-star cast, and see what Johnny Depp and company have…

    Ohhh, Look…’Mortdecai’ Character Posters

Normally, we don’t put up a post just to feature a poster. But today, we got our hands on something that was too good not to share. Lionsgate certainly knows what kind of movie Mortdecai is, and they are having some real fun with the marketing that’s for sure. The film has an amazing cast, but if you ever found yourself asking, “what would those fine thespians look like were they to sport Johnny Depp’s mustache?, then today is the day you get your answer. Aside from the joke, there’s something genuinely funny about the film (well from the trailer at least). Mordecai (starring Johnny Depp) seems like the best Rowan Atkinson movie not…

Ohhh, Look…First Clip from ‘Smoke and Mirrors: The Story of Tom Savini’

To anyone who knows anything about horror films (both campy or iconic) Tom Savini is more than a special effects icon. He is a bona fide superstar. Sure you’ve seen his face in From Dusk Till Dawn and Dawn of the Dead, but his real talent lies behind the camera creating the legendary effects in films like Day of the Dead and Friday the 13th to name but a few. So, while we just love talking about Tom’s work, there’s a new documentary on the horizon devoted to the man of the hour and that’s got us excited. The film, titled Smoke and Mirrors: The Story of Tom Savini, chronicles his…

Ohhh, Look…Enticing ‘Jurassic World’ Brochure – Park Re-Opens in 2015!

“Say again?…We have a T-Rex!” If you’ve been patiently waiting to get back to Isla Nublar, then this promo brochure will very nearly send you packing for your trip. Part of the supposed ad campaign for the Colin Trevorrow directed Jurassic World (the fourth installment in the JP series), this teases some exciting activities, events and amenities on this theme-park inspired brochure/map. For the avid dino fan, there are rides, a golf course, and a petting zoo…oh my! Curiously enough, a golf course seems more odd than a petting zoo. Now you may have seen the first early photos released of this map of Isla Nublar (given to extras during shooting which…

Ohhh, Look…Michael Fassbender and Domhnall Gleeson Discuss the Absurdity and Charm of 'Frank'

Michael Fassbender might be known for his face, and thanks to 300 his body, and thanks to Steve McQueen another part of his body, but how effective can an actor’s performance be if we can’t see their face? Well that’s what Film4’s Frank set to find out. If you had your finger on the pulse of the festival circuit (or attended any fests in the past months) you’ll know that Fassbender shines right through his giant papier mache cowl and delivers one of his finest (and funniest) performances to date. But if all the praise goes over the heads of film fans then why not get a testimonial directly from…

Ohhh, Look…New Clips from Miyazaki's Oscar-Nominated 'The Wind Rises'

While the animation world is still getting over the fact that The Wind Rises signals the officially official retirement of the legendary Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki his final bow has been met with a very deserving Oscar nomination for “Best Animated Feature”. The Wind Rises is quite a departure from the fantastic fare he’s known for and is, in a way, a metaphor for his career. In fact, the film, whether intentionally or not, echos his efforts to create peerless animation. In The Wind Rises, Jiro Horikoshi dreams of flying and designing beautiful airplanes, inspired by the famous Italian aeronautical designer Caproni. Nearsighted from a young age and unable to be a…
