Last week we got some great news and after months, nay, years of praying one of my very favorite films is getting the Blu Ray treatment it deserves!! For two decades Cliff Secord and the gang have been garnering fans and after all this time this underrated gem has reached the level of cult classic. I’m an admitted die-hard Rocketeer junkie (try typing “The Rocketeer” in our search bar and you’ll find plenty of posts where I’ve either mentioned it or flat out gushed over the film or its fantastic score) and as such Joe Johnston’s serial adaptation of Dave Stevens’ graphic novel has made more trips to the VCR in my childhood than any other film. G-S-T Quick 5 – Movies That Should Be on Blu Ray
With the abundance of Blu Ray titles on the market, I find myself thinking that there are a few worthy (and much-needed) titles that deserve the “New Blu Treatment”. I know it’s a slow process as there’s got to be an incredible back log of films still to be made over. However, the one I was most excited to see was The Rocketeer. Since it is one of my favorite movies (and I’m not alone am I Ruth?) I just had to post it. I’ve also attached some of the ones I really enjoyed. Damn this guy is just uber talented. It’s tough to find that delicate balance between minimalist and boring. But he…

Countless times, studios have tempted us with intriguing premises for film adaptations of beloved comic book stories but they unfortunately lead to absolutely dismal efforts. That said some film adaptations actually do well, other surprisingly beat the odds and, in rare cases, a precious few prove to become some of the finest cinema ever made. Well I wouldn’t put The Rocketeer in that last category, but it is still a damn fun movie and…
