Eight years after Zack Snyder’s 300 hit theaters and rapidly became a joke through a relentless parade of Internet memes, we’re finally getting the sequel-prequel-recap that nobody wanted. Fortunately, the first trailer for 300: Rise of an Empire makes Noam Murro’s contribution to the story of Sparta’s war with Xerxes look pretty good; if the film didn’t really need to be made in the first place, at the very least it may have the muscles needed to justify its own existence. I can’t honestly go back and watch 300 without laughing anymore, but maybe this will be just new enough for me to take it seriously: The film reportedly unfolds before,…

Sweet Trailer…'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug'
It feels like we were reviewing The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey only yesterday, and yet here we are, staring down the first full trailer for the next installment of Peter Jackson’s intentionally, gloriously obtuse adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit. Audiences and critics drew some pretty significant dividing lines in their reactions to An Unexpected Journey (opinion was split even on this very site), but I have a feeling that The Desolation of Smaug will be more universally pleasing; with the set-up out of the way, the film should just be nothing but pure adventure, and if nothing else, the trailer seems to confirm that suspicion. Check it out below: Dwarves in barrels, spider attacks, orcs and…

G-S-T Trailer Roundup: Alien Conformity, Hot Guidos, & Psychotic Hobbits
So many trailers, so little time. Truthfully, enough teasers and preview clips have dropped this week that I could fill out three different roundups and still have some leftovers; sometimes, studios just want to inundate the web with their collective chunks of promo footage. Marketing’s gotta market, after all. The good news is that there’s so much to choose from that sheer variety alone makes the effort of gathering and watching each spot worthwhile (and if there’s one thing we appreciate here at Go, See, Talk!, it’s variety). Comic book flicks, retro sci-fi throwbacks, gruesome horror remakes; even a concert movie made the cut here, and that’s saying something, since…

Sweet Trailer…'V/H/S/2'
Yesterday we posted a great trailer for Peter Strickland’s suspenseful thriller (a film that was pretty well received at Fantastic Fest last year). But if you need something with a little more punch, direct your eyes to this trailer for the sequel to the infamous horror anthology V/H/S, dubbed simply V/H/S/ 2 (or S-V/H/S if you prefer its cute techno-themed chronological moniker). As the first film was a scattered but highly effective fright fest, this sequel holds nothing back and really, really goes for the throat…and every major organ while they’re at it. So if you favored V/H/S even in the least then this trailer to the improved upon sequel (check out Andrew’s review…

Sweet Trailer…'Berberian Sound Studio'
How do you make a movie about sound engineering creepy? Brian De Palma, Francis Ford Coppola, and Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck have each succeeded in making aural surveillance and the act of listening suspenseful and exciting, and Peter Strickland looks to be following in their footsteps with Berberian Sound Studio, his second feature film. Regrettably, I missed the screening held at IFFBoston this year, but IFC has me- and everyone else- covered, as they’re going to release the Toby Jones horror vehicle next month. In the meantime, they’ve offered a trailer (the second one cut thus far) for our viewing consumption- have a look below. If Berberian Sound Studio spent…

Sweet Trailer…Edgar Wright's 'The World's End'
This year, barring some minor misfires, has been an outstanding year for films and it looks like things are only going to get better from here on in. Of the staggering amount of awesomeness coming down the pike in 2013 we’ve highlighted the films we’re most excited about and this Summer, between the comic book and sci-fi madness, we’ll finally get to see the final leg of Edgar Wright‘s so-called “Blood and Ice Cream” trilogy. We posted some still shots last year but the first trailer for Wright’s uproarious looking comedy The World’s End has just been released so have a look below… It’s a full on alien invasion threatening the planet and…

Sweet Trailer…'Ender's Game'
There’s a lot to like about the first trailer for Ender’s Game, Gavin Hood’s adaptation of Orson Scott Card’s beloved, iconic, and utterly important science fiction novel; it’s big, it’s grand, and it looks to appropriately capture the gravity of the narrative’s scope. Maybe the most awe-inspiring note here isn’t in the footage itself, but from the story surrounding the project. It’s hard to believe that after years of being told that Card’s book- which focuses on gifted children being trained by the military to combat an alien menace- is unfilmable, audiences of both fans and the uninitiated alike are finally going to get to see his vision on the big…

Sweet Trailer…'Thor: The Dark World'
Marvel’s Cinematic Universe: Phase Two continues with Iron Man 3 (which hits theaters this May) but there’s one superhero we’re even more excited to see again. After The Avengers, some may have forgotten we still had a few more stand-alone character sequels to come from the Marvel Universe on the big screen but this Fall we’ll see the return of the Odin-son in Thor: The Dark World. The first trailer dropped and this pretty (excuse the pun) dark looking sequel is already living up to our expectations. Here’s hoping that the follow up to the 2011 hit shows us that lightning strikes twice for the God of Thunder…enjoy! Thor battles to save all the Nine Realms…

Sweet Trailer…Keanu Reeves' 'Man of Tai Chi'
We’ve heard about Keanu Reeves‘ pet project Man of Tai Chi for a while now but aside from a few set shots (and news about the film’s cutting edge camera work) very little production news has surfaced. This weekend the first trailer for the film dropped and while the quality isn’t that great it still raises eyebrows and pulses. From the looks of it Man of Tai Chi will be about a martial arts tournament set in Beijing and stars Tiger Chen (veteran stuntman). The plot is very vague as IMDb only gives us this bit of info: “In Beijing, a young martial artist’s skill places him in position to…

Sweet Trailer…'R.I.P.D.'
While it may not be apparent to the average film fan, there are a lot of movies out there that are adapted from comics. Sure everyone knows Superman, Spider-Man and those properties, but now people are becoming more familiar with off-beat characters Kick-Ass and Scott Pilgrim as well as the likes of RED and the MIB. For those of you new to this table, R.I.P.D. is a short-lived and obscure but still popular Dark Horse Comics mini-series. At first glance it looks like an even-handed mix of Men In Black and Hellblazer (aka Constantine) but still looks like it’s got the legs and wacky fun to keep it from being a face plant like Cowboys &…
