    Sweet Trailer…'Men In Suits' Doc

For years the digital revolution has been creeping up and it’s not just the style of filmmaking that is going all 0s and 1s, it’s also the effects. While we could have debates over film vs digital and further, practical vs digital effects, we’re gonna save that for another time (or you could see the Keanu Reeves doc Side by Side if you want to get into the first argument). But today an avid movie fan wants to speak his voice and champion the practical movie monsters. Below is the trailer, a Kickstarer endeavor, about the people who made the effects/performances so iconic. No, not Stan Winston, Tom Savini, Rob Bottin et al, but the men…

    “The CineMagic 8-Ball” – In Theaters 8/31/12

When so many movies are released each weekend and trailers often seem better than the movie itself, what should one do? In this precarious situation, we consult the The CineMagic 8-Ball (TM) to help us see through the nebulous marketing haze. Doing so just might save us all a disheartening trip to the cinema and spare us unnecessarily springing for $7 popcorn. See what the 8-Ball says about this week’s releases… ——————————————————————————————————————————————- LAWLESS The true story of the infamous Bondurant Brothers: bootlegging siblings who made a run for the American Dream in Prohibition-era Virginia. Inspired by true-life tales of author Matt Bondurant’s family in his novel “The Wettest County In…

Sweet Trailer…Robert Redford's ‘The Company You Keep’

Last month we posted the first promo images from Robert Redford‘s upcoming film The Company You Keep. Well hot off Lawless (check out our review here) Shia LaBeouf may continue to impress us as a capable thespian and not be the man-faced boy running from autonomous robots. In the film, Jim Grant (Redford) is a widowed single father and attorney living in Albany who was once a member of the activist/terrorist organization “the Weather Underground”. Wanted for robbery and the murder of a security guard, Jim has been in hiding for more than thirty years. When another former Weatherman (Susan Sarandon) turns herself in to the FBI, aggressive young journalist Ben Shepard…

Michael Keaton Takes Hugh Laurie's Role in 'Robocop' Remake

Right when Jose Padilha‘s all-star Robocop remake was looking like it was going to be the biggest thing ever, it hit some snags. One of which were some of the director’s ideas that raised some eyebrows. Beyond that, one of the initial hits taken in the pre-production was the loss of Hugh Laurie from the project. But fear not OCP fans, the project has got a new baddie on board and in an odd yet possibly better decision Jose Padilha got a hold of one Michael Keaton. A personal favorite of Go,See,Talk Keaton has consistently been an unlikely but winning hit for most of his films. From Batman to Beetlejuice to Clean and Sober to Pacific…

    G-S-T Review…Lawless

In his latest film John Hillcoat delivers a fantastic period-piece film based on the book “The Wettest County in the World” (an account of the true-life tales of author Matt Bondurant’s family). Titled simply Lawless this adaptation chronicles the events around the Bondurant family at the pinnacle of their prohibition-era moonshine business and how three Virginia brothers became legends unto themselves. Historically party to and at the center of the infamous “Franklin county moonshine conspiracy” the trio faced opposition on many fronts not just from the authorities but also bigger and similarly illegal outfits. A wild ride for any film fan the events depicted become even more engaging as it’s revealed that their story…

Ohhh, Look…'Bat Man of Shanghai' from Cartoon Network

Lots of our favorite comic/super heroes have evolved since their first issue or appearance and usually it’s the bold and creative changes that make the most impact. Case in point; Batman has had more face-lifts than Joan Rivers but each time his reinvention or re-envisioning is something special. The video below is no exception. Sure we’ve seen Batman in the future (Batman Beyond) Batman in the past (Gotham By Gaslight), and now we have a new anime version that is as exaggerated as it is outstanding. No words, just watch… 100% dope right? This is part of DC Nation only on Cartoon Network and I soooo want to see more. Currently there is supposed to be a new…

    Sweet Trailer…Joe Dante's 'The Hole'

Well here’s a blast from the past…and I’d say doubly so since I sat down and (with immense joy) revisited Innerspace this weekend. It’s been a while since we heard about The Hole and unfortunately this is where this film has been since its completion in 2009. Joe Dante is known for delivering fun films that contain equal amounts of comedy and danger and like Gremilns, The Hole takes a kid-centric horror story just a bit darker than you’d expect. Plus it was filmed in 3-D so there’s that too. For those of you who are still wondering what The Hole is, you’ll find everything you need to know the…

Ohhh, Look…Superb Viral Trailer 'Looper the Movie the 8-Bit Game'

With September right around the corner, fans excited for Rian Johnson’s awesome looking sci-fi thriller Looper don’t have to wait too much longer (it hits theaters on Sept 28th btw). But to hold you over until next month comes this clever viral 8-bit video for Looper the Movie the 8-Bit Game. More than just a series of pics from the trailer digitized in classic 8-bit visuals (well 16-bit would be a little more accurate), this inspired creation really calls back to the classic days of the NES (or SNES) replete with music and all. So don’t let me ruin the throwback fun to be had…enjoy this neat video if you…
