Next week we’ll be treated to the first full trailer for the upcoming film Snow White & The Huntsman. While we wait for that to drop, feast your eyes on the following four featurettes (sorry all of them have unskippable ads). These videos have lead ins from the stars of the film are cover all things from set design to costumes to the characters of this dark and gritty take on the famous story. One thing I wish they might have touched on is the musical score. Was what we heard in the teaser really James Newton Howard’s score or was the TRON/Inception inspired track just a placeholder? We’ll find out soon enough but…

Calling all you Whedon fans, have we got something for you. In 2009 Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard developed and completed an ambitious horror flick called The Cabin in the Woods. Playing up the stereotypical elements in a film about ill-fated teenagers, Whedon/Goddard set out to turn what has become a trite story (and, to an extent, genre) on its head. Wow! I knew this other Snow White movie was going for a larger and grittier tone but I wasn’t expecting this. From Universal Pictures comes the Rupert Sanders directed take on the Snow White story we all know…or think we know. Combining the looks of the Lord of the Rings trilogy with a scale on par with anything Ridley Scott has ever done this just floored me. Enough words, just watch…oh and sorry for the short ad below. Oh boy comic fans, today is a very special day. The teaser for Joss Whedon’s The Avengers just hit the web and it’s got fan boys (and girls) excited for what is probably the largest superhero movie ever created. Assembling the members one by one in semi-interweaving origin stories Marvel (and now Disney) has taken one helluva chance on the success of this ensemble film. I have a feeling that it’ll be awesome but you probably don’t need me to tell you that right? Captain America took home the box office gold this weekend (to the tune of $65.8M) and tons of positive reviews. As Steve Rogers is the final Avenger to get his big screen debut (in the Joss Whedonverse that is, we’re going to forget about that other early 90’s Cap flick) we finally have all the pieces in place for next year’s Avengers film. The third Marvel character from the Avenger’s line up (and first tent-pole comic film of 2011) comes at us with a pretty solid adventure about the Asgardian Odinson. The most otherworldly member of the upcoming The Avengers film was quite a delight after the rather underplayed trailers and mixed reviews. Sometimes, depending on the material, an awe inspiring character in the comics can look just downright laughable on screen regardless of whether or not there’s a credible story to back it up.
