    Blog-A-Thon: 'Houdini's Magic Ticket'

Hello World, Marc Here, Today we get to partake in one of the most fun Blog-A-Thons I’ve ever been party to. Dan at Top10Films.uk has created a doozy of an event that has probably stumped many a film fan with this infinitely creative cinematic quandary. “What would you do if you were given Houdini’s Magic Ticket from the Ah-nuld film Last Action Hero“? I know that might have you really dig for something creative before you gave your answer, but how about 8 questions that really make you think?? Click below to see the 8 taxing questions that would hopefully make any film fan run wild were they given use of said…

Beneath the Earth Film Festival – Official Selections Available On-Line NOW

Happy Friday everyone! A few months ago we posted that yours truly would be participating in the grand jury for an awesome off-the-grid film festival. Based in the Big Apple, the Beneath the Earth Film Festival set to find the best short films out there. The difference here is that the fest would be held exclusively “on-line”. Yup, no need to travel to NYC to partake, this free festival offers these ambitious short films right on the BTE website. I have to say that some of them are very very good and with a little luck I can see some of these filmmakers setting off on a future in film.

Wachowski Siblings Working On New Sci-Fi 'Jupiter Ascending'

For some time now, Andy and Lana (formerly Larry) Wachowski have been busy bringing David Mitchell’s Cloud Atlas to the big screen. Development on that, if you haven’t been keeping up, has been sounding pretty awesome. That’s still a ways off but the duo has more than one supposed ace up their sleeve. As they’ve made their fame and fortune with the sci-fi epic The Matrix and to some extent the sequels (hey, I love Reloaded and will defend the heck out of it) the siblings’ script for Jupiter Ascending has just been picked up by long time backer Warner Brothers. Jupiter is slated to begin production sometime in the Spring of next year.

    Sweet (TV) Trailer…'Life's Too Short'

Earlier this year we posted the announcement trailer for the new Ricky Gervais/Stephen Merchant series Life’s Too Short. The team’s upcoming BBC Two/HBO series is a faux-documentary following a highly fictionalized life of actor Warwick Davis (Willow). Much like his own appearance in Gervais’ Extras, Warwick is seems just fine having a laugh at himself. Also along for the ride is a slew of  stellar guest stars…but I won’t ruin if for you. Have a look and enjoy!! The duo behind the original The Office look to have another hit on their hands replete with all the awkward and uncomfortably brash comedy (like this for example) we’ve come to expect and grown…

Off the Shelf…’Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’

Halloween is just around the corner and in recent years I don’t think any character has been more popular than Pirates of the Caribbean mascot, Jack Sparrow. Kids love him (as do adults) so it’s no mystery why his appeal goes way beyond his persona on screen. That said, back for his fourth time as Capt. Jack, Johnny Depp is joined by friends old and new as he sets out continuing his quest for the Fountain of Youth. Just as exciting as it was in the theater, the terrific Blu Ray transfer of PotC 4: On Stranger Tides is a real treat (with great commentary and extras should you opt for the 3D version) as high…

    Sweet Trailer…'The Devil Inside'

With found footage films making a resurgence as of late the next film coming down the pike (but sadly not in time for Halloween) is The Devil Inside. The first we heard of this was in the creepy viral video/911 call released last week and now we have a full on trailer which looks to have found footage goodness (well faux-documentary if you want to get specific) written all over it. Let’s just hope the final product comes out as good as it’s teasing. Have a look for yourself and enjoy! In the same vein as the Eli Roth produced film The Last Exorcism this hopefully will offer something worth…

Ohhh, Look…Voltron Fan Film 'The End'

These days there’s no shortage of 80’s fans and those of us who grew up then have never forgotten our roots. As numerous properties from that decade (read: the most awesomest era ever) have become feature length films, others still are a long way off. Transformers, TMNT, G.I Joe are but a few that have leapt to the silver screen, to varied results mind you, but their films didn’t come out of nowhere. Those same franchises have been chugging along and staying fresh in fans’ minds via comics, toy and various cartoon shows all these years.

'Bond 23' Has Its Villain…Javier Bardem

Wow, it’s been too long since I’ve heard casting news this good! After MGM’s unfortunate financial woes, it looked like the world’s most beloved super-spy James Bond, contrary to his famous post credits tag line, might not return to the silver screen. Thankfully, through those oh so secret meeting behind executives’ closed doors, all the hiccups and hurdles were cleared and the latest Bond has been moving forward with director extraordinaire Sam Mendes at the helm. But like any story, a hero is only as good as his villain and Bond 23 has snagged a doozy.

    Sweet (Teaser) Trailer…'The Avengers'

Oh boy comic fans, today is a very special day. The teaser for Joss Whedon’s The Avengers just hit the web and it’s got fan boys (and girls) excited for what is probably the largest superhero movie ever created. Assembling the members one by one in semi-interweaving origin stories Marvel (and now Disney) has taken one helluva chance on the success of this ensemble film. I have a feeling that it’ll be awesome but you probably don’t need me to tell you that right? So until we get a full trailer, another and the endless TV spots, have a look at what Whedon will be bringing us next May. Man, I know…

More Muppet Madness: PSA For 'The Muppets'

One movie this year has had the pleasure of deep, deep, deep marketing pockets. Without a doubt, the winner of Advertising Campaign of the Year will go to our fuzzy friends The Muppets. A home run literally every time (from the first trailer to this last one) Disney and Jim Henson Studios have really pulled out all the stops. While the video below isn’t entirely a trailer for the upcoming movie or as smart as everything else so, it should still give you a chuckle still as it too showcases the satire and smarts that keep The Muppets socially relevant. So if you need a reminder about cinema etiquette, here’s a quick and funny by…
